I stayed here for two nights during a business trip to Brisbane recently, in the ‘Studio Deluxe’ room. The hotel is very central and just a stone’s throw to all the bars and restaurants on Queen street, which even on a Wednesday night, were overflowing. The Botanic gardens are also about a 10 minute walk away if you come out of the hotel and turn right. There is a post office next to the hotel and a liquor store (BWS) across the street. The studio deluxe room includes a small kitchen area with a sink and a full range of cutlery and plates, bowls etc. There is a Nespresso machine, kettle and a mini bar fridge, however there is no mini bar contents included apart from a small carton of long life UHT milk. The ‘studio executive’ room includes a mini bar where you are permitted to take two free items, however this was discontinued as of June 2018 in the ‘studio deluxe’. The Nespresso machine included three coffee pods by Senseo and all the usual tea styles from Aurora. The television has all the free to air channels along with fox sports, sky news and ESPN, however a special note needs to made here about the outrageous price being charged to hire on demand movies. Most new release movies were around $18.99, which makes no sense given that the same movies can be rented on you tube for around 4.99! I would recommend hooking up the chromecast to the TV instead! Or go to the cinema, which is just up on Queen street. The bathroom was very large, spacious and extremely clean, the overall room was very clean and well maintained, this hotel was only built in 2014. There was a free breakfast included in the rate I was given, which consisted of a standard buffet and hot food options. Room service from the restaurant below is available 24 hours, however after 9pm the only option is pizza. The price of all the pizza options on the room service menu is $32 and they did not look particularly good. Worth noting that Domino’s pizza is located just a 3 minute walk away and there is also a Turkish kebab shop right across the street which is open 24 hours, and definitely not charging 32 dollars for pizza. There are plenty of better food options in the area open later than 9pm. Based on price alone, I would not recommend eating at the hotel. The indoor pool is located on the 2nd floor and just off the pool is a spacious gym with an x box and foosball table. There is no business centre that I could see apart from a few mac books in the lobby area, but there were no seats or printers. The lobby is very small, as is the restaurant. In general the public areas of the hotel are very cramped, and the corridors are very dimly lit. The studio deluxe room is not particularly big either, they seem to have gone for a very large bathroom at the expense of the floor area in the room. Overall a very good hotel in the CBD area of Brisbane. Clean, attentive staff and...
Read moreThe hotel is in a good location and the reception staff were polite, pleasant and helpful, however this hotel has been seriously let down by its housekeeping and cleanliness. Looking at other guests’ reviews, we’re not the only one who have experienced issues with the subpar housekeeping standards, and it’s an issue that appears to have been going on for quite a period of time.
When we first arrived in the room, we noticed that shower tiles, grout and shower door seal were very moldy and the conditioner dispenser was caked with dried conditioner, as sign that cleaning has not been meticulous or thorough for quite some time.
We experienced the worst housekeeping/ room cleaning that we have ever experienced in a hotel. When we returned to our room on the second day of our stay, the only housekeeping that had been done was that only 1 of the bins in the room had been emptied (but not cleaned) and only the bath towels had been changed (but perplexingly not the hand and face towels). Our used coffee cups had not been washed, new coffee pods had not been supplied, the milk in the fridge was not replenished, the bed had not been made, the hand towels and face washers had not been changed, the bathmat had not been changed and was still damp and lying on the floor, the sink and counter surfaces had not been wiped, and the body wash dispenser had not been topped up (it was running very low on our first day already, but by the second day it had run out). It was so appalling that it made us question the overall cleanliness of the room and the hotel.
We are not above having to wash our own coffee cups and and dishes, however while there was dishwashing liquid provided, there was no sponge or dishwashing brush, no dish drying rack, no tea towels to dry the dishes and no other cleaning supplies to wipe down the counter tops.
Overall a disappointing stay. Considering that this hotel charges almost as much as a an international full-service hotel, I expected much more than what...
Read moreI stayed at Capri by Fraser Brisbane and found the experience to be a mix of highs and lows.
First, the positives. I loved the central location of the hotel and the room itself, particularly the design which felt modern and comfortable. The shower was spacious and had a rain shower head. Being located on a high floor (upon request) made it even better, offering nice views. Additionally, as a corner room, it had a fantastic window setting that provided plenty of natural light and a pleasant atmosphere.
The staff at the restaurant and reception were exceptional. They were very friendly and professional at all times. My special requests (high floor, nice view) were fulfilled, which made me feel very well taken care of.
However, there were significant issues that marred my stay. Upon arrival, I noticed a lot of hair in the bed and floor. I requested the linens to be changed and asked for vacuuming. The linens were changed immediately, but it took a second note left on the bed before they vacuumed thoroughly the next day. It was also too cold in the breakfast restaurant. Housekeeping knocked at 10:30 on the last daze asking me what time I check out, despite the "do not disturb" sign being turned on. This isn’t ok AT ALL.
There was also a persistent metal scraping sound (I believe from the elevators) and an engine noise that hummed every five minutes for about two minutes before slowly fading. This noise was constant, 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, I had to sleep with earplugs every night due to the sounds, which significantly affected my ability to rest. Thankfully, at least the humming engine sound stopped after the second night of the stay for my last night.
While the potential for a great stay was there, thanks to the lovely room design and the outstanding staff, the issues with housekeeping and cleanliness and constant noise detracted from my overall experience. If these issues are addressed for future guests, they could have a fantastic...
