I used to be a regular customer of their coffee here, 2 mochas a day minimum on some days. Food is basic but coffee has been great. Just now, though, I had a very unpleasant experience with the coffee. It was terrible. It's diluted, watery, and tasted like drinking sand/dirt. Really bad. So I approached the counter, but before they even found out what was wrong, the woman there got super defensive: "that's mocha. That's mocha. We made it right." Weird, dude. One, I knew that was mocha; I ordered it. Two, how did they know they "made it right" if no one even bothered to ask what was wrong? It was super off-putting for someone working front-of-house. I politely asked if it could be redone but she wanted to charge me again, screaming, we "made it right." Like, why charge me for fixing that dirt-tasting coffee? That coffee was undrinkable and I just needed the usual one I had for the last three years at Gather. I thought I faced the manager there as the other staff were just looking on, not helping or mediating, and she was just too arrogant. That couldn't have been just an average employee, yeah? If so, it was a probably a new hire. Anyway, that was my first time, ever, asking Gather Cafe to redo a mocha because I've always loved their coffee. Instead, I got screamed at and demanded to be charged for correcting that sand-tasting mistake they caused. Yikes. Way to go standing your ground on a $6 drink. I won't be supporting this company anymore. They've just lost someone who brings them hundreds of dollars in sales a month. That's probably barely a dent in your sales, but it's the principle behind it...
Read moreI wanted to share feedback regarding my recent experience at your establishment, as it left me quite disappointed. During my visit, one of the servers exhibited an attitude that made me feel uncomfortable. She appeared to be of Asian descent and was wearing a denim apron. When I stood at the counter, she didn’t acknowledge or take my order until prompted by another staff member. Her manner of speaking felt rude, and when she stamped my card, she did it carelessly, placing the stamp in the wrong spot. This encounter shocked me, as it was the worst customer service experience I’ve had in Australia, something I never expected. After discussing this with friends, I learned that they, too, have had similar negative experiences with this same staff member. I would kindly request that her service be improved to avoid future dissatisfaction. On a positive note, another Asian staff member with long hair and darker skin provided excellent service and was very polite. I want to emphasize that my feedback is not directed toward her, as her professionalism and friendliness were much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving your...
Read moreDo not go here if you have any dietary requirements - you'll probably end up in hospital.
I honestly never write reviews like this, but they have routinely labelled products as 'vegan', 'dairy-free', etc, and then served them with animal products like cheese. This is negligent at best, and downright dangerous for people with allergies and food intolerances - not to mention upsetting for ethical vegans, so I felt the need to comment.
Today I ordered the vegan mushroom burger, and it was served with dairy cheese. On a seperate occasion, my partner ordered the banana smoothie, which they advertise as having a vegan/dairy-free option, which he specified to them. He was given a smoothie with dairy in it, and then told that they actually 'can't make that one vegan' after he returned it - why was this not specified when he ordered? And why does the menu have 'vegan options' for a product you don't make vegan? Absolutely infuriating and pathetic for a cafe.
Staff seem nice, but really need to be educated on what vegan/other dietary requirements actually mean, and your menu needs updating to reflect the dietary conditions of...
