Opinion from 2 people who like going to every cafe there is:

10/10 Atmosphere: Well lit, comfy couch seat, very aesthetic, nice indoor tree. Great place to spend time to talk to someone.

6/10 Drink: Signature drink: Coffee bubble tea with tapioca. Got the salted caramel version. Mixed the drink (was I not meant to?) Tasted very odd to me and did not taste the salted caramel at all. The lady didn't mind it. Hot chocolate: Taste great, also had a leaf from the milk art. 10/10.

4/10 Food: Chips: Saltier than my first gulp of ocean water The lemon aioli was nice. Also they were hand cut, so the rustic chip shapes were very nice. Coffee-brushed chicken burger: Did not taste any hint of coffee and the batter was very salty (seriously, ease up on the sodium). Some sort of "Philadelphia sweet chill lookalike" as the sauce, it was very thick and a bit over used, ruined the texture of the burger. Greens were scattered on the plate for plating and not in the burger. Put it in myself. Great for a photo, not for my tummy. Great looking burger. Pandan waffle: Amazing looking waffle. Sorry for sounding mean, but it was literally hard as cardboard. 0% crunch, 100% chew. I hope ours were a mistake and others weren't served the same textured waffle. Very aesthetic plating though, will make a good instagram picture.

4/10 Service: -Was not welcomed upon arrival -Water not refilled without asking -Not asked how meal was going/went -No prompt that you can't pay with cash (or I'm blind) -Friendly staff

Overall: Just get a drink like a coffee/hot chocolate and talk with whoever you're here with. Great area, aesthetic restaurant and light atmosphere. The food quality is debatable but makes a great picture. Might come back for drinks and chill, not for food. Hope this review...

Myself and a group of friends went to Industry Beans for lunch and overall did not enjoy the experience.

Service: Our reservation was for 12PM and upon arrival we were advised that some items from the menu/s were not available. The waitress proceeded to tell us that about 10 of the menu items were not available to be ordered which limited our selections down to only just a few. No explanation was given as to why these were not available, I assume a stocking issue? Regardless, a lot of items were unavailable which really took away from our experience.

Drinks: Coffee orders took a good while to come out, but as is known for specialty coffee, it was understandable. Iced latte was quite nice and the house coffee syrup was good.

Food: We were really disappointed that a lot of menu items were not available at only 12PM. We were able to order waffles and thick cut chips, but about 30 minutes after ordering we were told that these items were no longer available so people in my group had to re-order food again from an even more limited menu. After this, we waited another hour for all of our food, only after speaking to a staff member about what was causing the hold up? We were seated near the kitchen and the cafe was not busy at this time, kitchen staff seemed to look relaxed and were cleaning but our food was still not out. When the food did come out it was very average and burger buns were not toasted or warmed.

Price: Very overpriced! My burger was $34.90 and was definitely not worth it. Coffee was good but I could go to many other places for a lot cheaper.

I really wish I could like this place as the atmosphere was great and the interior was very welcoming, but after this experience I don’t think I’ll be...

*Review update (26/4/21): Sad to say that the flaws I mentioned on my review earlier in the year remain unchanged.. The drinks arrived much faster this time though which is great, but the staff were, as mentioned by some reviewers had an air of arrogance/attitude and were somewhat disinterested or lacked pride in their work, and when they weren’t serving customers, they huddled around in various corners in the restaurant and chatted (one customer waved for some time to gain their attention).. and this continued for extended periods of time while we were there. It is exactly what I feared.. once a consistent pattern of bad service and conduct emerges and it continues to happen months later, there is a problem. Due to this, I’m downgrading my review to a 3.

(3/1/2021) Typically my wife and I would have a pleasant experience here but today was shocking to say the least.. we waited 30+ minutes for our drinks to arrive and even worse they missed some of the items we ordered. Upon observation, it seemed the place was understaffed, only 3 baristas serving a full house and only a few taking orders made for a very chaotic atmosphere.. the manager/owner wasn’t present to keep things in order and we think that’s the main reason for the inconsistent pace of movement amongst staff at the time.. or it could be an issue with the staff themselves..

While most reviews like this would end with one star, I’m keeping my 5 stars simply because I’ve seen how well this place can run. I do hope my experience today won’t be repeated too many...

Hubby and I headed here for lunch recently. I had an iced yuzu cascara spritz, made with a yuzu syrup and a cascara cold brew, which is the berry of the coffee plant. Not bad, though I expected a bit more - oomph. Mr P. had an iced coffee, made with their cold brew and housemade icecream. This is a DIY job, like an affogato. He found this nicely refreshing. Then I went for the sous vide salmon garden - sadly, I liked the idea and the presentation of this dish more than the actual food. While it looks pretty, the taste - mm, not really my thing. I don't really understand the value of using technique over flavour. The salmon was incredibly bland, and the texture was weird. I'm not sure how to describe it - gelatinous, odd, strangely unappealing to my palate. The samphire was twiggy; like eating twigs off a bush; not pleasant. Dashi sea foam? Yuzu gel? Just - why? Mr P. had a coffee rubbed wagyu burger which he liked a lot. The chargrilled brioche bun was not too sweet - yay! (sadly a common fault these days); the wagyu pattie was good, and the chilli jam was really excellent. The polenta chips were okay, if a wee bit bland, and not cheap. I mean really? Three chips for an extra $4?! I have to say we both expected a few more. All up, the burger and chips were $27! Kinda expensive, I reckon. The interior looks fabulous with that high, open space above, but the waitress was suggesting people sat in the outer part where we were, as it was a lot cooler than right inside. To be honest, we won't be rushing back.

Industry Beans Newstead is a must-visit spot in Brisbane's café scene. Nestled in a sleek, converted warehouse on Proe Street, this place offers a unique blend of industrial chic and cozy vibes. The open layout and minimalist design make it perfect for a laid-back brunch or a casual coffee catch-up. The coffee here is exceptional. Roasted on-site, the beans are fresh and flavourful. Whether you're into a classic flat white or looking to try something new like their signature Bubble Coffee, there's something for every coffee enthusiast. The use of the La Marzocco Modbar system allows you to watch the brewing process! The food menu is equally impressive. From the OG Avocado Smash to the innovative Porcini Nest, the dishes are thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The brunch menu offers a mix of classics and creative options, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate. Service is friendly and attentive. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're made to feel welcome. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with top-notch coffee and delicious food, Industry Beans Newstead is well worth a visit. It's a great place to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quality cup of coffee in a stylish setting. [Follow my adventures on instagram @crushinglimits]
