On entry everything appears fine, like a proper teppanyaki restaurant. We were guided to our table by well dressed, polite and friendly wait staffs. However, this is where things went downhill.
The "chef" serving our table walked up to us and handed each of us an apron without saying a single word or greeting. As he started cooking, he just dumped everything onto the teppan. Chicken, salmon, shrimps and scallops all onto the same board together.
Quality of food was appalling, don't expect any plating or decor what so ever. Food was serve not in any order per the menu, pretty much just whatever the chef feeled like putting on your plate.
I ordered the Ran set for 99pp. I was served a flimsy slice of grilled salmon followed by salmon sashimi, then 3 pieces of overcooked scallops and chunks of bay bug meat drenched in soy sauce. The chef then walked away leaving the stove on, allowing everything on the hot plate to burn and smoke.
We then watched in horror as the chef emptied a box of mixed vege onto the blackened and burnt teppan without even attempting to clean and scrape it first. Then comes the fried rice which was once again cooked on the burnt teppan. As he is cooking the rice and fried egg, more food ended up in the ditch than what was served in our bowl. It was an absolute disgrace to watch this much food gone to waste.
The chef finally decided to make an attempt to clean the teppan by pouring a bit of water on it and scraped the charred bits off, but you can still see the board covered in burned sauce as he started cooking the steaks.
Overall, at 99/pax it was an absolute waste of money. I have had teppanyaki set for under $30 which looked and tasted better than this. If you were drunk and got too much money to spent, then this place is probably reasonable. If you are looking for a decent dinning experience, then you best...
Read moreWe booked for 6people (for my birthday and my friend’s bday and our loved ones) we were seated at the worst spot like the kids table at the L -end of the long table basically looking at each other (which would be fine if the purpose wasn’t something else) rather than the “experience” we paid for. Meanwhile the other tables were having a blast with their chef doing what’s expected we were sitting quietly with our chef occasionally threw something at someone to engage and then wondered off. The group next to us told is they are regulars here and this evening is far away from what they usually experience. Was extremely boring, the food was too salty and didn’t hit the level of expectations. I have been in a few Teppanyaki Restaurants before( in Vancouver and in Hawaii) this is far away from the experience I have had. I would rate the customer service poor. The manager was quiet rude when we asked if we could swap tables since it’s a bday celebrations etc. Not to mention we were squeezed in at the tables. Our arms were touching the people next to us so comfortable seating or covid friendly seating is not a thing here. Also if you can’t provide the same experience to every customer ( enthusiastic chef and seating setup) don’t charge the same price either. Our table which was filled with 4groups left the restaurant pretty early while the other 6-7 table was still having fun. Personally I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Spending $100+ per person didn’t worth it. Ps. The waitress was super nice and the chef in the middle area (round table setting)...
Read moreWas seated by the Assistant Manager (Bradley T). After a short time we were asked what we wanted to order from the menu from the Assistant Manager. I told them I'd be ordering the Tsubaki ($69) and my partner (5ft and 50kgs) will be ordering a few add-ons and share. We were told that's not the house rules and the chef expects every person to order a full set meal so that's what he'll get (we're a group of 7 mind you and everyone else was buying a set meal), the delivery of this was extremely rude, patronising, and treated like we were just there as seat fillers and not welcoming.
After that we ourselves were expecting a Chef for our own grill, you know like every other Teppanyaki venue, not the case, which was even more frustrating after the way we were treated previously. Our chef worked two individual grills and in doing so missed out on a lot of usual entertainment and spent the majority of the night just watching the chef prepare the food. The chef was nice and the food was good, but you come to these places for the experience and engagement. You'd pay 30 dollars for the meal given to us.
Was pretty disappointing as I've been to several Teppanyaki venues and this would have to be the least welcoming, rude and money grabbing vibe I've been too. Will be telling everyone I know to...
