Modern Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I don't usually write review but I have to write one about Modern Thai. 10/10 for their service. They were so understanding and caring. We had 2 kids (one girl and an infant). The girl was jumping around and the baby was at her evening fussy time. They let us move to the outside table where it was more private even though it meant more work for them. They kept going out to check on us, giving us more water, etc. When the evening got cold they came to turn the heater on for us. The young lady that greeted us and the man who brought the birthday cake out to my hubby were just amazing! 9/10 for the food. The salads were a bit sour for our taste (we like it more savoury or sweet). Everything else is great. You must try their curry with coconut rice. Other Thai restaurants' coconut rice is usually wet and white. This restaurant has yellow colour fluffy soft coconut rice which goes so well with their curry and doesn't make it too wet (we had Masaman lamb curry). Creamy coconut chicken soup is delicious too. With a show to go to and only an hour to spare our family party of four were warmly welcomed into the restaurant at opening time on a Saturday evening. The note we had included on our online booking regarding our limited time was acknowledged and we were promptly shown to our table. Drink orders were immediately taken followed shortly thereafter by our meal orders.

The ambience of the restaurant reverberates with good taste and classiness and we enjoyed our entrees seated in very comfortable chairs whilst the background contemporary classical music subtly enriched the mood.

Our meals soon arrived, beautifully presented, with the aromas and flavours a delight to the senses, the freshness of the ingredients apparent in every succulent mouthful. Staff were courteous and attentive, enhancing our dinning experience.

Modern Thai is exactly that, classy, contemporary and exuding culinary excellence. The venue is licensed and we were pleasantly surprised at the exceptionally reasonable prices. We will return again soon, with more time to soak up the atmosphere and everything that is...

We saw the high reviews and thought we would give it a try. We drove up the highway, so it's not our local. The staff were friendly; there was nothing wrong with the service. The restaurant itself looks very fancy. The food was okay, but nothing was outstanding. Fairly normal portion sizes. There was an imbalance of bamboo shoots and green beans to other ingredients. The food was expensive. They gave us a separate drinks menu, but drinks were also listed on the food menu, which seemed silly? No cocktails appeared in either menus.

It was packed and busy. Buzzing atmosphere. Small car park out front, so if you're lucky, you'll get one. They're right in front of a main intersection.

Overall, it was okayyyy food, but we wouldn't be making a special trip back. 😕
