An absolute gem of a local Thai restaurant that's very authentic!! Been here 2x in the least week and it's very much worth it! First came ~6:15pm on a Friday night, just as well we had a booking as it soon became VERY busy there!! Still, the free staff did well to serve everyone and handle all the takeaway orders coming in/out!
I had the pad kimao noodles with beef(medium spicy) DEFINITELY had a kick to it!! Very generous sized serving = more like, "here's some beef with your bowlful of noodles" if you know what I mean.. and we left stuffed!
We also tried the Quail egg wontons as an entree which was a bit of a novelty. Again, a whole lot of fried batter for a small quail egg in there somewhere.. ๐
then I came again ~1215 PM for Friday lunch and it was much quieter - very pleasant to converse with the friendly staff!
This time we had the curry puffs which came highly recommended +many others of my ethnic background [Malaysian] come and take enjoy the curry puffs they make and they certainly were extra delicious freshly made!
I had the massaman beef - The Best massaman beef curry I've had anywhere! Big, tender, flavoursome, chunky beef chucks will fill your mouth and give you plenty to chew on, also had roti bread (that unexpectedly came with complimentary YUMMY satay sauce!!!), again medium spicy curry, I think that's enough to keep my palette excited and not too bored ๐ my friend who's frequented SE Asia a number of times reckons they're very authentic, hence the name of their restaurant "Maa Kinn (which means 'come eat') Bangkok Street food"
So if you're anywhere around/on the way to mount Gravatt lookout, stop by and come eat the delights of authentic Thai cuisine! Generous servings at a good price $15-$20 a dish with friendly service thrown in and a quaint (small) ambient indoor dining area.. parking just off / on Logan Rd if you're blessed or we've usually parked on Gowrie St around...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently organized a massive takeaway order from Thai Smile Cooking restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations! Firstly, coordinating such a large order could have been a logistical nightmare, but the restaurant's team handled it with utmost professionalism and efficiency. They were incredibly accommodating, helping me navigate their extensive menu to ensure everyone's preferences were met. Now, onto the food โ it was simply outstanding! Despite the size of the order, each dish was prepared with precision and care. From the zesty appetizers to the fragrant curries and stir-fries, every bite was a burst of authentic Thai flavors. It was evident that the chefs take great pride in their craft and use only the freshest ingredients. Portion sizes were incredibly generous, ensuring that everyone in our group was well-fed and satisfied. Plus, the packaging was secure and labelled clearly, making it easy to distribute the dishes upon arrival.
Overall, our experience with Thai Smile Cooking restaurant was exceptional. From the seamless ordering process to the delicious food, they truly went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. ย ย ย Read moreCame to try the buffet they were promoting. At the first glance, its a simple self serve set up. However, once you try the food it was great for me. Iโm not super familiar with thai flavours but this is my honest feedback. The pineapple rice had a nice pineapple aroma and was not too salty. The fried chicken wings were seasoned turmeric which was a new flavour for me. The veggie spring rolls were crunchy outside and soft inside. The seafood stir fry and veggie stir fry had fresh ingredients seasoned in sweet soya sauce. Love these 2 dishes. The Seafood tom yum soup had strong lemon grass flavour and galangal. To me this is proper Tom yum goong. The biggest stand out dish is the Pork Bone soup aka Tom Sep was just delightful. The pork portions were boiled so long till the cartilage was soft like jelly. The soup was tart and hearty. The first time I have experience such a texture in a soup. The sweet and chilli fish were of thick cuts. The batter was crispy and the sauce with sweet, tangy and slightly spicy. Love it. The buffet had fresh fruits, muffin, coffee and tea and fruit punch as part of the package. 100% worth the price for this deal. Follow me on Tiktok and instagram @ punk_gardener for more...
