We visited Steel & Grind to extinguish my wife's months-long craving for crepes. Although a sizeable drive for us, the high reviews and appealing menu had us take the plunge.

Straight up, I must say that I loved the venue. Smaller in size, it's darker decor, background music, and matching ambience truly struck a chord. I'm not a big fan of light, white and bright, so S & G was a much welcomed change. There's bench seating inside and out, a display cabinet filled with treats, lunch options and drinks and, to my great surprise, a small bar at the back!

Service was excellent, both prompt and friendly. I was able to easily engage the owner as he worked, and the staff working inside were lovely as well. No pretence, no pomp, just welcoming and natural interaction.

From a meals perspective, we both ordered crepes (traditional lemon & sugar and Nutella & strawberry for my wife, the Dijon chicken for me), along with a flat white and White Smoothie.

Everything was excellent and much enjoyed. The robust and strong coffee was given the tick of approval by my wife, while I really liked the smoothie; much lighter and creamier than many others and didn't take up belly space reserved for the crepe. The crepes themselves (and I tried all three) were delicate, flavourful, yet surprisingly filling. For me, it was a nice change to enjoy chicken, cheese, egg, etc., without the addition of heavy breads.

In summary, Steel & Grind was 5-star across the board and well worth the drive. I would happily visit them again and recommend them to others....

Came early on a Saturday morning with our two young kids. It’s a small cafe with bar seating outside and minimal seating inside. Has a cosy nook with a couch.

They are kid-friendly with high chairs and toys for kids which is amazing. We sat in the nook on the couch so could keep an eye out on the kids. Outside area has a car park so if it’s busy I’m guessing you would have to be more vigilant keeping an eye on the kids.

Pet friendly also as I noticed a pup outside with a bowl of water.

They sell toasties, crepes and Acai bowls. Also coffee, tea and smoothies. The toasties were delicious and we had a couple of savoury crepes which were well presented and so yummy. Good value for money and really lovely coffee which I believe they blend themselves.

The staff were super friendly and polite. It’s always a great start to the day if you’re greeted with a smile. Even when they were getting smashed, they were still super friendly.

The decor is unique which gave us a lot to look at. Really relaxed atmosphere.

We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great...

First time here and I parked off Bothwell St at the rear. There is a driveway off Logan Rd but would be hard to spot. Small and funky layout. Ordered raisin toast and cappuccino. It wasn't very busy and took less than 2 minutes for both to arrive. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable on their products. Merlo house blend Kenyan/Ethiopian blend was todays go. Very smooth and drinkable, lacked a bit of punch if you like a stronger coffee but most milk based coffees are smooth. I would recommend for anyone to try. Best for couples and adults as not much for children to do. Dog friendly. Food 4/5 Coffee 4/5 Would...

Came here for a coffee. I thought they used to have house roasted coffee? I'm not a big fan of Merlo house blend (too smokey and bitter for me), but the barista at Steel & Grind managed to make the best Flat White from it. High sweetness without dominating the strong coffee flavours. Very highly skilled milk frothingl, micro foam stayed after a long period of time. Obviously they also run a bar at night, and offer wine tasting sessions from time to time. Car parking lots behind the building.

We were so delighted to stumble on this trendy underground-style cafe and bar. The crepes look amazing so will be back to try those. Latte and vegan brownie was very yummy. I'll be back with friends to try the whisky tasting at the cave-like cocktail bar hidden away deep inside. Feeling so lucky to live nearby this and all the other great eateries on this strip of Logan Road.
