It is a very interesting and exciting concept for a cafe. I was intrigued when I saw the photos on instagram and decided to come and pay a visit when we could. We are really happy we are finally here.
It was everything I expected, a classic and vintage vibe radiating off the whole place, the train carriage design, the leather seats, the European style wooden chairs. Every detail was heart felt. A great spot for a date.
Coffee wise, we got their skinny cap and iced latte. I quite enjoyed my skinny cap and thought it was rather delicious. The chocolate sprinkle melted and perfectly blended with the foamy milk underneath. I did not try the iced latte but my partner really enjoyed it.
Food wise, I had their chicken club sandwich with a salad and French dipping on the side (both cost extra $7), while my partner grabbed their Reuben sandwich. The portion of the dish stunned me when my sandwich was brought out . The baguette was chewy but not dry. The chicken was tender; the avocado and aioli were creamy but not overly greasy; the leaves and tomatoes offered a hint of freshness. I did not try the Reuben sandwich but it looked darn good. The dipping was interesting as I had never had it before. It did go well with my sandwich and was a good addition and helped soften the bread a bit. The salad was good and well seasoned.
Service wise, all staff were friendly and attentive. In general, it was a great experience and we will def come back again....
Read moreFirst and foremost, we decided to try our first experience during the most hectic Friday night just before the Test match between India and Australia and it was the weekend before Christmas. The place was packed. We watched people press the staff for the impossible and the owner and staff were professional and super polite. We almost couldn’t get a seat, and while a hectic situation unfolded, they catered for the large function without squeezing us into a corner or busy corridor. They told us, with the most courteous manner, they have better seats at the two sister venues .. one with music I loved in a quieter and larger space. They thought ahead!
We sat and they literally walked the pavement and took orders and served drinks… I wish o had a step counter for all the staff, as they were like precision and efficiency all in one. We ordered three coffees and a cocktail, al warm, and not a single drip of being couriered… across a 25m strip! The taste, perfect!
Then we ordered the pie styled Nona’s pizza which blew me away. I liked the four cheese pizza two, but we agreed that the favourite was 11/10 so a 9/10 wasn’t a pizza you wouldn’t travel for.
But the best was the sincere owners approach to the mayhem. He is to be commended as it felt like a holiday that rivalled Sicily and Melbournes iconic little italian settings. The perfect cool evening air, atmosphere and patients makes this a place I would highly...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place as the staff were very enthusiastic....however... the breakfast bagel was advertised with tomato relish but had loads of (dripping with) tomato sauce instead. Tasted like a Bunnings sausage sandwich (which is cool for $4). The $18.50 bagel however was crying out for its relish as all I got was cheap sauce flavour. Staff later asked "how was everything?"- I told them & they said "I'll let them know" but... no action. Tip: if ya gunna ask & then the customer has a legit issue, Do. Something. About. It......like, anything..... Other bugbear - hard rock blasting at 8.30am. The Doors, Led Zep etc. Having a hospo background I dig maybe staff wanting up music to get going however, this customer would dig morning vibes. The staff were trying so I wish them well & hope they get the details right as that's where the difference...
