A Disappointing Experience at Nando’s Buranda – I Strongly Do Not Recommend It

As someone who regularly visits restaurants and appreciates good food, I feel obligated to share one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Brisbane.

Hygiene and Environment: The premises are in unacceptable condition. The chairs in the waiting area are visibly dirty, covered in grease and accumulated grime. What should be red chairs now appear black from filth. The floor is sticky, clearly due to a serious lack of cleaning. The place feels repulsive from the moment you walk in.

Customer Service: The staff at this location clearly lack any training in customer service or hospitality. They are rude, inattentive, and make you feel more like a burden than a valued customer.

The Food – The Most Disappointing Aspect: I ordered a whole chicken to take away with lemon and herb seasoning, but what I received was a mix of reheated pieces from different chickens. The taste was burnt, spicy, and completely off from what I ordered. The chicken was cold, dry, and clearly not fresh. As someone with culinary knowledge, I could tell they had thrown together leftover pieces just to "complete" the order. Absolutely unacceptable. It also seems they don’t even clean the grill properly between uses.

Conclusion: I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. It’s obvious the quality has drastically declined over time, and it’s no surprise the place isn’t as busy as it used to be. To the owners: train your staff, clean your store, and please respect your customers by serving fresh, well-prepared meals.

My advice: avoid Nando’s Buranda and reconsider trusting this...

I love Nando's chicken and have always enjoyed dining at their restaurants. Unfortunately, my experience at Nando's Buranda was disappointing.

Upon arrival, the service fell short of expectations. The cashier was unhelpful and did not allow us to redeem our points, which added to an overall lack of friendliness. The cleanliness of the restaurant was concerning, the handwashing sink was dirty, and from there, we could see the grill, which appeared unclean and seemed to give the chicken an unpleasant burnt flavor. The floors were messy, tables were sticky, and leftover unattended plates attracted pigeons and chicken bins that enjoy a meal next to our table, which was very unhygienic.

When we received the food the person dropped half bowl of chips on our table, and instead of offering a replacement he asked if we wanted them on the bin (?)

As for the food, the chicken was dry, overcooked, and lacked the signature flavor Nando's is known for.

This visit did not meet the high standards I usually associate with Nando's, we didn't receive what we pay for and I hope these issues can be addressed to improve the dining experience at...

We ordered "The Halloumi", along with sides of halloumi, chips, and garlic bread. I can not fault the taste, the chicken was cooked perfectly, the pita bread was soft, and the sauces were fantastic. The food did take a while to come out, but this is to be expected of food made-to-order. However, major caveat in the fact that most tables were left uncleared for at least 20mins, though most longer than that, and this particular location seems to insist on having the doors permanently held open. This of course invited in many birds, which the staff seemed to almost completely ignore, who were flying around the restaurant, and eating off of the scraps on the tables around us. When a staff member did finally come over to clean the table, he first stood looking at his phone for a few minutes, before actually starting to clean up.
