2 strikes, and you're out. I would like to say it's not a regular but it's happened twice. Firstly, we ordered our meal and enjoyed the meal in the restaurant. we had to ask for the sauce multiple times even though we stated it when we ordered all good we got the sauce eventually.
Then, we ordered the same meal with the same sauce as a takeaway. we asked if the sauce was in there, and we believed them, so we paid for the order and left when we arrived home to our surprise no sauce and the special fried rice was cold we were surprised when we called we were promised a replacement rice thats all good we believed them.
Last night's episode the phantom order, we ordered the same meal again, but it took 20 mins to get it though and multiple calls the first call was "Hello" can I make an order please then the phone call ended and not by us. Then, a second call, the response was "Hello." I asked. Is this silver city Chinese? The reply was "Yes," and the call ended. The scary music began playing in the background. I then called again, and after a lot of we close in 10 mins, the order was finally made. After my partner picked up the order and asked if the sauce was in there, she was told "yes we closed. The unexpected plot twist NO SAUCE nnnnnnnoooooooooooo.
Then, when I called today to solve the case of the missing sauce and cold rice. I was told they would call me back when it is ready.
Short intermission 45 mins and no call.
So I, as the hero of this story, I ventured to the fortress of no sauce. And asked if it was possible to get the sauce to go with our leftovers.
The reply was not promising as then needed to go through the dockets from last night as the sauce was not ordered. How do they know that they have not gone through the dockets yet ?
I was left waiting 20 minutes while people were served, and surprise, surprise , I had no response from management.
So if you have enjoyed my little rant, I have not all I wanted was my sauce.
I will wait for a response, but I'm not holding my breath
See you for episode 2. The fortress...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhilst visiting relatives in Broken Hill a special occasion. We decided to enjoy a Chinese meal on our last night. We walked into this restaurant at 8pm. The reception we received by the table waitress on entering the restaurant was rude and embarrassing. I asked politely for a table for 7 people. I was told by the steely faced woman to understand that they closed at 9pm. Clearly she was not happy to see us. As we were pointed to a table we were given menus. When my niece asked for water we expected a bottle to come with glasses for all of us. Instead she bought one plastic bottle no glass. She did not ask anyone else if they wanted drinks we had to ask. All this time we did not receive a smile or any friendly approach. We told her that on their website it said they closed at 10pm. She rudely says" no thats wrong, it leads you to another site that says 9pm." We checked for this it does not! We have never felt so unwanted as a customer in any restaurant environment ever before in our lives. The food waiter and waitress who delivered ourmeals and cleared our table were very friendly. They obviously do not know their front staff are attempting to turn their customers away because she wants to go home as early as she can. Another couple came in whilst we were there and were also rudely pointed to a table with rolled eyes by this waitress they too felt very uncomfortable. They were locals. We will not recommend them to our friends visiting the Hill and I will let my Broken Hill family know about this experience so that they can tell their friends. This woman needs to be spoken to by the owners of this restaurant if they have any pride in their business and customer service !!!! Disgraceful!!! The meals were very nice and generous servings unfortunately we could not relax just wanted to eat and leave...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came as part of a large group banquet on a visit to Broken Hill from Sydney in March 2025. Chinese food is my favourite cuisine and therefore I have been to many restaurants in Sydney and elsewhere. As a banquet I will give them credit for the quantity of food bought out. It was the quality of the food that was poor. This was particularly the case for the fried rice that looked and tasted like boiled rice with some over fried bits and pieces added to distinguish it.
The banquet included a number of deep fried items. This included mini spring rolls and dim sims which were OK but not great. Two main dishes had the protein portions deep fried in a batter. That was the sweet and sour pork and the honey chicken. The batter was thickish, rubbery, hard (not light and crispy) and overwhelmed any of the meat used in both dishes. They should change the batter mix on these dishes, an easy fix. On the positive side they were friendly and seemed to want to please us. Based on our experience I would never eat there again. With a little online investigation there are plenty of Chinese chefs who now share their secrets to making good food. I suggest the chef goes online where they could learn a lot to make a big difference to the...
