I was on the fence with this review. I loved Blasta, as the location pre game for Footy and BBL makes it a great pre game venue to meet up with friends pre game and make your way down before and after the matches. Some how however the Standard has dropped massively since the move a few hundred metres down the road. The Food is terrible and the bar service average. It clearly showed that we aren’t the only ones thinking this as yesterday pre game for the Scorchers it was a lot quieter than we expected. I’m not sure if they have over committed with the multiple locations they now have or if the owners have lost the passion, but either way the standards have dropped and a lot of people I chat to that have gone there since the move mentioned the poor quality of food output. Yesterday we had a rare opportunity as new parents to be child free for the afternoon (first time in nearly a year to get out and about), relax enjoy a good meal and hospitality, then venture to watch the scorchers. After we left I felt like we made the wrong choice to go to Blasta and squandered our date day to a degree as we left ultra disappointed. I had the steak 🥩 at $42 it had great flavor from the grill and the jus provided complemented the cut of meat. I did ask for medium rare and it was medium at best. A bit thin for a $42 steak. My partner had the grimster rocks Fish and chips, the fish was deep fried for far too long and the batter was ridiculously thick and like cake batter still in sections. The ratio of batter to fish was crazy take a look at the photos, it was basically inedible. A few of us also used the beer garden bar a few times to order drinks and it took forever for bar staff to serve you out there. Myself and few mates that all bought rounds would sometimes stand there for over a few minutes with bar staff walking past us seemingly to not even care we were standing there. A simple we will be with you in a minute is not hard to communicate- or if it’s too hard to have the internal bar open as well as the beer garden bar, you should close it so patrons don’t feel like they are being ignored. Other comments - for the kids, new place is less kid friendly, the play equipment is now a big downgrade from the old place so parents should consider this when going to the new version of Blasta. In summary, Blasta looks to have perhaps stretched a bit too far with multiple locations and the growing pains of restructure to another venue. I hope the owners of the venue can assess the criticism objectively and acknowledge that a fancy new facility and location are only two ingredients for a successful operation. Your food and staffing are the other integral ingredients and they lacked in our...
Read moreIn the heart of Burswood, you'll find Blasta Brewing Co., a buzzing gastro-pub known for its selection of craft beers and enticing food. Drawn by high online praise and the prospect of reviewing a unique brewery-come-pizzeria, I made my way there, filled with anticipation.
The interior exudes a spirited energy that is almost infectious. Blasta's atmosphere, brimming with the chorus of jovial conversations, the clinking of glasses, and the warm glow of thoughtful lighting, created a delightful first impression.
The beer catalogue, extensive and diverse, is a craft beer aficionados dream. The standout was their 'Chainbreaker' IPA - a masterfully brewed beverage with the right blend of bitterness and fruity undertones, promising an enjoyable companion to any meal.
However, where the ambiance and beer succeeded, the culinary aspect faltered. My order of the fire breather pizza, highly recommended by many patrons, was an unfortunate disappointment. After ordering, I found myself waiting for an uncomfortable 40 minutes. Despite my patience and two separate inquiries about the delay, the pizza only made its appearance well past the anticipated wait time.
When the pizza finally arrived, instead of the tantalising treat I expected, I was greeted by a dish that had clearly lost its battle against time. The once vibrant ingredients now looked dull and the pizza, to my dismay, was cold. The flavours of spicy chorizo and jalapeños were underwhelming, struggling to emerge from the chilled cheese and lukewarm crust. The portion was generous but hardly compensated for the lacklustre taste and temperature.
The service, usually a key factor in ensuring an enjoyable dining experience, was unfortunately subpar. While the staff were pleasant and wore welcoming smiles, the delays and lack of efficient communication about my order were frustrating, to say the least.
In summary, my visit to Blasta Brewing Co. fell short of expectations. Despite the engaging ambiance and enjoyable beer selection, the disappointing culinary experience and service let-downs left a sour note. I might give it another chance, considering the high praises it usually receives, but it'll take some convincing. It would be beneficial for Blasta Brewing Co. to focus on improving its kitchen efficiency and maintaining the temperature of its food until it reaches the customer. Until then, my enthusiasm for returning remains...
Read moreBlasta's Bottomless Brunch. I’m not sure why this hasn’t been thought of before. The weekend brunch has always been a bit of a petit fours, bottomless mimosa’s affair which is great…. If you’re celebrating a bridal shower. Less ideal if you're a group of mid 40's blokes cellebrating a birthday. Blasta Collective has really turned this upside down with their offer in the fancy new Gastrobrewery area. There’s still the mimosas and macarons if that’s your thing but if it’s not, buckle up. We kicked off at 11.45 with a crisp “Where the Helles Burswood” lager and it wasn’t long before we had plates of prosciutto, chorizo, olives and feta to pick away at. It didn’t take long before the beers had evaporated, and it was still before midday. In order to make it feel a bit more “brunchy” we ordered a round of cocktails split between bacon bloody Marys and Espresso Martinis. Drink envy among the group meant another round to try what we'd missed out on. By this stage it was 12.15 and we already in deep. That's when the mains hit... Fried chicken, slow cooked beef cheeks, racks of ribs and just to keep it brunchy.... waffles. Things start to get pretty sketchy memory wise from here. What I know is there was never a time when I was left wanting another drink. Or food, soooo much food. Deserts came out complete with Happy Birthday messages for the birthday boy. Oozing chocolate fondant puddings, Macarons and crispy chocolate filled Churros had had us at our limit. With our "we won't mix our drinks" plans already in tatters, we started on the Prosecco. As the 2 hour sitting drew to a close, staff made sure we had another round on the table ready to go. Classy. After another half hour at the table finishing up drinks we pretended we were all going to go home for a bit but the lure of the beer hall next door was too much to handle so we rolled in there to try one of their Superdelic Hazys. At $80 a head, this is ridiculous value. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The level of service is definitely a notch above what you'd expect from your usual pub. Everything felt incredibly generous. Get a group together and get stuck in. If you've never had beef cheek waffles have you ever really brunched? Very highly...
