We visited Hideout Byron Bay as a group of 11 for Wednesday breakfast, and while the overall experience was pleasant, it left us with mixed feelings.

First, the service was excellent — the front-of-house staff were friendly, efficient, and quick with our orders. The food also came out in good time, which is always appreciated with a large group.

We ordered a variety of dishes including bacon, salmon, mushroom Benny, eggs on toast, coffees, and other drinks. However, when it comes to the value for money, it felt quite overpriced. For example, $30 for a single piece of bread, two slices of bacon, and two poached eggs seemed excessive, especially given the portion size.

The hollandaise sauce didn’t taste fresh and had a slightly unusual flavor, which took away from the overall dish. The poached eggs were cooked medium, which was okay, but nothing particularly special. The coffee was decent and probably the most satisfying part of the meal.

While the café has a nice vibe and great service, we felt the food didn’t quite match the high price tag. For what we paid, we expected more generous portions and a more refined taste.

Overall, a decent experience, but not the best value for a proper...

Do not come to this place The most disgusting scrambled eggs I’ve ever had, sent them back the first time because the eggs hadn’t even been mixed together, and they were undercooked, then they brought back the same eggs over cooked No flavour It looked like the chef just chucked some eggs on a bbq for camping

The halloumi had a horrible taste from the grill not being cleaned regularly

The waitress then came over and pretended to care that we were really unhappy , and told us to wait while she speaks and gets the manager, I declined because I didn’t want the issue to go further but she insisted they cared about their customers happiness. Waited 10 mins , nothing , got up to leave and was given a filthy look. No offer of refund - nothing !

We paid 46$ for pancakes and scrambled eggs ..

Pancakes were nice

Honestly put a big downer on our trip from Sydney , as we know how famous Byron is for its cafes and vegetarian options Just crazy that a cafe doesn’t know what normal scrambled...

On the afternoon of 11 May 2024 I went to this café after completing my first triathlon in the morning. I had brought a spare pair of trainers with me from having done the triathlon in the morning. On leaving the café I accidently left my spare pair of trainers under my table. The next morning I realised this and went back to get my trainers. The staff remembered me from the day before and told me they had left the trainers outside the café overnight and when they arrived to open the café this morning the trainers were gone. The staff said that the café HAS A POLICY OF LEAVING CUSTOMER PROPERTY OUTSIDE THE CAFE OVERNIGHT IN CASE THE CUSTOMER COMES BACK TO GET IT. Therefore my trainers had been stolen by someone. This policy is utterly bizarre. Most cafes would keep customer property for at least 24 hours and also keep it in a lost property box or equivalent. On the basis of this policy and I would recommend...

Was staying at the Surf House backpackers near by (I’m not a backpacker, just needed cheap accom for Bluesfest 🤣) and came here today for brunch. Fantastic decaf coffee, beautiful flavour, and ordered the special “Cowboy Wrap” with halloumi. Wow. Perfectly seasoned, bbq sauce and salsa was perfect amount, very well balanced taste, texture was brilliant, with the crunchy hasbrown and bursts of onion from the salsa. Sensational. Highly recommend!

I cannot fault this place at all! I got Eggs Benedict and it was by far the best breakfast I have ever had. I come here twice on my visit from Adelaide and he got the eggs PERFECT both times the hollandaise sauce was spot on! I highly reccommend the Green Boost juice as it is literally to die for! The chef (Dylan) knows what he is doing he is a genius in the kitchen. I will definitely, without a doubt come back here each time I visit!
