Grill'd Burgers - Belconnen — Restaurant in District of Belconnen

I don't know why Grill'd in Belconnen gets a bad rep. Something happened today that compelled me to write this review.

They were in the process of closing, but I asked if they would accommodate another order and they did so happily, without the usual frowning that you get at some other places.

They do a deal on Wednesdays where you can add an extra patty for free. I always go with the simply Grill'd as I love how the simple flavours bring out the flavour of the patties themselves.

I ordered it on panini bread, which is my favourite, but they accidentally made it on traditional bread and I felt really bad taking it back to them as they were closing as I previously mentioned.

But I ended up asking if it was possible for them to swap the bread out and they wanted to make me a whole new burger, I said swapping the breads out was just fine. They were so nice about it, the girl who served me apologised time and time again and asked me if they could give me something extra to compensate for it. Just the simple gesture was enough for me.

I was taken aback by their warmness and genuineness, you don't really expect that from fast food places anymore, some pubs wouldn't even accommodate for it even if you've been a patron for years especially when they were about to close.

My hats off to the team there and I wish more people could see this side of hospitality without taking it for granted.

And the burger itself was beautifully juicy, didn't feel rushed even when it was their last order of the night.

I always seem to have issues at this store, whilst the food is always great, albeit overpriced. The service and speed is usually the issue. Last time I went I asked to cancel my online order as it had taken almost my entire 1 hour lunchbreak and I still didn't have my order, after asking for a refund the meal was finally ready which I had basically no time to eat by the time I got back to work. On my most recent visit I waited for 30 minutes (Eat In) and saw people who arrived after me get their food. I asked how much longer my food would be when they rushed around the kitchen for several minutes coming to the conclusion they had somehow completely skipped our order and not made it. Once they realised the error they made the food quickly and it was at the table within 5 minutes however besides a muffled "oh sorry" there was no actual apology or any form of compensation. The resulting delay caused me to be 20 minutes late to the show I was attending. Don't think I'll bother with this store in future. Touching back on the prices it's really out of control, almost $60 for two meals, I'd be better off going to a full...

The burgers are so yummy. We ordered the Hot Bird and the Kickin Chicken along with sweet potato chips, zucchini chips and HFC chicken bites. The bread was so fresh and the chicken in both burger and HFC are so very tender soft and juicy. The spice mix in the hot bird was just right to tingle my taste buds and take me to paradise. Whatta feeling!! Just yum and delicious. The sauce in the kickin chicken burger is next level... not too sweet and not too spice. It was just right... Made me crave for more after every mouthful. The sweet potato and zucchini chips are unique and one of a kind.... both in taste and flavour. Never have I tasted these variants in any of the restaurants in sydney / canberra. It's a monopoly domination for grill'd here. Absolutely mindblowing! Last but not the least, the donation / charity concept of the bottle lid is so thoughtful and unique again. Never have I come across any restaurant / cafe doing such charitable activities in a creative way. Kudos to you and your team!
