Stella's By The Lake — Restaurant in District of Belconnen

Very bad experience with one server due to hygienic reasons. My husband and I went there this morning. After we sat down, this server brought over the water with two glasses, then came back shortly apologising saying that the glasses were dirty and would change them for clean ones. We then saw her walk to a pile of dishes at the bar counter and come back with another two glasses from the pile. But these two glasses were even worse than the initial ones. They clearly were used as there was someone else's lip print smudge on the edge. At first we thought it was just an honest mistake that maybe she accidentally took a used one placed next to the clean ones. But later we realised that the dishes piled at the bar counter were all used when we saw someone take them to the back for cleaning and we spotted the clean water bottles and glasses by the entrance where other servers fetched to serve the customers. So she simply gave us used and unwashed glasses from the dirty dish pile, TWICE! She went back to the same spot to get us another set of dirty glasses after she realised her initial mistake! That was repulsive and the sight of someone's lip print on the dirty glass grossed us out and ruined the rest of the meal. It was simply lucky that neither of us drank from those glasses. We had to ask another server to take away the glasses so we didn't have to see them when we ate. Food was way overpriced given its portion ($23 French toast with one thin slice of toast, one strawberry, and one very thin slice of orange, it was almost stingy with this amount of food at this price). We paid $67 including 10% of weekend surcharge for one dish and one drink each, and we left with a still empty stomach. Really disappointed in this cafe we weren’t greeted when we came into the cafe. We sat down and looked at the menu got two orders and 3 drinks which was fine however when we got everything we had the drinks way before the food and already finished our drinks before the food arrived my daughters baby chino was very cold and she didn’t even want to drink it. The food sucked it came out and on my partners egg and bacon roll we asked for scrambled instead of poached and the guy whom took my order said yep that’s fine came out and it had poached egg secondly myself got a smashed avo with NO egg instead a hash brown it came out and it had egg and no has brown so they took it back however when they came back they left a SURPRISE under my meal which was a black piece of hair DISGUSTING 🤮 what happen to WHS work health and safety with hair nets a guy with long ish hair and seemed to have facial hair should have a hair net on. I asked the waitress (guy) and he just said sorry and took my plate BAD SERVICE NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS REVOLTING PLACE and to top it off they over charged by $9 seriously but by this point I wanted to get out of this cafe before we had realised!! Belconnen, there is a restaurant beside the Lake, the restaurant is in great location the Stella's by the Lake. Place has wonderful vibes, the people are happy and so nice 😊.

Our first time in Stella's by the Lake, many years ago 😳, we came to the restaurant before the new owner came and opened the restaurant as Stella's by the Lake.

Staff is super friendly and helpful with ordering your meals 😋, we loved the menu that they offered us.

They have a child menu 😋 that you can order, and also, you have pets they will feed you lovely pets, too.

Come in the morning and enjoy their coffee ☕️ or tea 🍵 and breakfast 😋 or takeaway to your work.

I highly recommend this restaurant to Stella's by the Lake.
