Not sure if it's "Real Mexican"because it's giving Mexican food for white people (or by white people.) But I guess we can just call things whatever we want, because they also call these (see photos) gorditas...they're so skinny they should be remamed flaquitas—just the pastry, flat instead of puffed, and not stuffed "gordo". Would you pay $19 for what you see in this photo? Despite what the menu says, it is not topped with beans: that's an extra $3! :) The nachos don't seem to even be heated in microwave, let alone baked in the oven. You could make better nachos at home. They one pro is that it comes with lots of meat. The chilaquiles looks assembled on a plate rather than cooked in a pan. I know good Mexican food is hard to find in Australia, but it felt like there was very little effort from the menu creators/owners. My recommendation is to buy just meat from them as takeaway and make the rest yourself at home. Or just get the tacos (didn't try, just assuming they'd be better for value).

I had an unsatisfactory experience at the restaurant recently. An unwanted taco was added to my order, which included a type of meat I cannot eat. I brought this to the attention of the staff member who took my order, hoping for a simple correction. He did remove the extra taco they charged me for. Unfortunately, his response was not only unapologetic but also included inappropriate facial expressions, which added to the discomfort of the situation. Despite the restaurant not being busy at the time 2:20pm —only three other customers and six employees—there was no offer to rectify the mistake or refund the cost of the extra taco. A more attentive and understanding service would have been appreciated. Ginger lemonade - 2/5 lacks more flavour no ginger at all. The shared toilet was locked with a key - unhygienic.

Authentic Mexican Flavours – Hidden Gem in Canberra I stopped by on a Tuesday and was surprised to find the place a bit quiet, which is a real shame, because the food here is genuinely good. Many of the dishes taste just like they do back in Mexico. There’s still room for improvement on a few items, but overall, the flavour is spot on and the seasoning is incredible. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience felt relaxed and honest. If you’re in the area or simply craving real Mexican food, not the fast food chains’ version that Australia’s gotten used to, do yourself a favour and check this place out. It deserves way more love.

I've waited years for an authentic Mexican restaurant to open in Canberra and this did not disappoint.

The tacos were excellent in portion, price and taste (I need to go back to try everything else) Especially with the garnishes and sauces available, I was very impressed by how much I loved the food. It reminded me of my time on the West Coast of the US and Mexico where I'd also find good Mexican food. So this felt right at home.

The service was extremely friendly from both the owners. Adding in the restaurant itself feeling simple, cozy and homey. This really made Jarochos the best place for Mexican food with its casual vibes, good food and friendly service.

I'd highly recommend visiting Jarochos for whenever you're feeling Mexican or want to pop into Braddon for a...
