We were excited to try this new restaurant mainly because the menu hyped up the food so much. I did my usual research & saw the restaurant is highly reviewed albeit with a smaller amount of reviewers. We decided to try it out especially since it’s quite close to our place.
Once it arrived and to our dismay, we were missing items that we paid for: 2 x $4 Extra Noodles. The order notes that asked for “No Onions” and “Regular Chilli” were missed.
The Bun Bo Hue and Beef Pho soup were both lukewarm on arrival - turned cold once we started eating, which was odd as we live quite close by. Perhaps the soup was already packed ahead of time & left to sit til order. Or the soup pot’s burner was turned off & left to sit. Either way, it was disappointing that the soup was cold. Had it been hot, the flavours may have tasted better because during our tasting it was lacklustre.
The Crispy Pork Banh Mi was okay. This item is one of their most popular food on the menu so we were eager to taste it. Unfortunately, the portioning was small and uneven as 1/3 of the bun didn’t even have pork on it and the pork was colder than the bun. The best thing about the Banh Mi was the bun.
Overall, the whole tasting experience wasn’t what we expected. I hope the owners don’t view this review too negatively as these issues can be fixed. Perhaps it is only the delivery aspect they need to work on and infact in-store, it’s a whole...
Read moreFrom the reviews here, I can gauge that Bun Bun Bao is a mixed bag, and pretty hit or miss. Luckily my food was on the better side of things, although not amazing. The bao bun I got was loaded and the gentleman who served me gave me a compliment and even came out and gave me the food. I’m not necessarily an expert in chicken, but if I had to judge its quality, I might be tempted to say it had been pre-cooked for a while and perhaps not the freshest meat in the world. The sauce was delicious, and although I would have liked something a bit different to the rocket on the bun, I enjoyed the meal overall despite it being forgettable. As for the flesh of the bun itself, I’ve had more succulent, squishier, fresher, but this one did the job and...
Read moreWe normally go to another place for banh mi and pho but thought seeing as we were already here at the shopping village, we thought we’d try it out. And OMG it didn’t disappoint, it was soooo yummy!! We ordered the crispy roast pork and the beef pho.
I requested chilli in mine and it was saaaahhhh good. Crispy pork right down to the last bite. And the size of the banh mi was a bit bigger than we’re used to which was nice.
Pho was thumbs up. We’re used to a slightly bigger size pho with more noddles but the broth more than made up for it.
Free parking is a bonus and it’s a very accessible restaurant which is good for a bite before going to Dendy’s movies upstairs. It’s a pity they close 2:30pm, but hey they’re open on Saturdays.
