Had been very much looking forward to trying Wu Kong Kitchen and Bar Southport. The Menu looked really interesting. Located in the Queen Street Shopping Centre, where Dendy Cinemas is. The Style, Design and Layout is quite Unique. The Waitress seemed determined to bundle all the Diners into one part of the seating area, (closest to the kitchen and bar). Which was strange, as there are Many seating options in this spacious Restaurant. So, I was sat next to a couple on one side, a large extended family in front of me & an unruly young family to the other side. A young couple came In next and the same waitress wanted to squeeze them in next to the couple sitting next to me. They requested they sit elsewhere, (in hindsight, I should have done that too). Had the Peking Duck Spring Rolls for Entree, Spicy Double-Cooked Pork Belly for the Main and a Fried Ice Cream. With a Tiger Beer. They did my pet Peeve and Served the Entree and Main Together !! Seriously- PLEASE- Serve the Entree. Allow us punters at least 10 minutes to enjoy that, before serving the Main ! It’s Really Not That Hard !! The Spring Rolls & Pork Belly were Nicely Presented and Tasted quite Good. The serving size was a bit Skinny for the price,($16 for the Spring Rolls and $26 for the Pork Belly). The Fried Ice Cream was a little Doughy, But pretty good. Could have used some Caramel Topping to justify the $12. Was disappointed with the seating placement. The food was actually pretty good. But, expensive considering the serving size. Oh, and if you do go, make sure to park in the underground parking area - 2hrs Free Parking. Compared to the ridiculous 45 minutes in the street level outdoor parking.

Honestly everything was just great the service from the two ladies, to the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. Came here with my family and we ordered chef special sweet and sour fish, the fried tofu pumpkin sauce, chicken Chou main noodle, beef flat noodle (which needed a tiny bit more chilli), vegetable fried rice, the vegetable spring roles and the mushroom truffle dumplings. Everything was presented like art work and I couldn’t complain what so ever. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to have a family lunch or a nice date. Also unlike most Chinese places this place didn’t feel cramped. 🤙🏼

This is the ultimate spot for your Chinese food fix! With 2 locations, in Brisbane CBD and Southport, it takes you on an authentic Chinese culinary adventure you’re don’t want to miss. From stunning cave like decor to mouthwatering classic dishes, it’s a feast for all the sense! Our picks: 🥩 beef brisket lo mien $18 🫛 sichuan spicy green beans $22 🌟 wagyu black truffle xiao long bao $16 🐔 three cup chicken $28 🧀 cheese taro dumplings $9 🍲 seafood and tofu soup $9 The three cup chicken, wagyu black truffle xiao long bao and those cheesy taro dumplings were next level - absolute must tries!

Very subpar, food took around 45 minutes to arrive despite a very small amount of diners in the restaurant. Portions did not justify the price of point of some dishes.

We had to approach the waiters to place our order, we felt ignored, overall lacking in the whole experience.

EDIT: Hi Wukong management,

I think you should truly reflect on your performance before responding to reviews. Whilst you may have a large number of online orders that need to be fulfilled and this may slow down your service, I think I am well within my right to be disappointed with waiting 45 minutes for the first dish to arrive to the table.

Furthermore, I don't just state lies in my reviews for the sake of shaming a business. We had to approach your staff to order, your staff did not once approach us. And please let it be known that there were only 3 other tables present at the time of our dining. I understand that staff can be busy, however I don't think its much to ask for a server to come and take our order like any other restaurant.

In terms of pricing, regardless of your values of what makes a dish to be set at a certain price, as a customer, I am well within my right to have an opinion on whether or not I thought your dish was worth the price I have to pay. I think you are missing the point of my commitment to getting the most out of my money.

I hope you take this feedback as honest and at the end of the day, an opinion on your restaurant.

Perhaps if your service was as fast as your response to my review, we wouldn't be...

Dine in the legendary Monkey King’s cave at Wu Kong Kitchen & Bar, newly opened in the Southport 🙈

Wu Kong offers a range of authentic Chinese dishes and they are priced very reasonably compared to most other restaurants we have been to. We had seen photos of their interior but trust me, when you in there it feels so much nicer and cooler! There is lots of parking available (Charges may apply depending the length of your stay). The staff was very nice and welcoming ✅

Here’s what we tried 📸:

• Wagyu Beef & Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao • Spanner Crab & Lobster Bisque Xiao Long Bao • Sweet & Sour Fish in Squirrel Shape • Signature Plum Duck • Golden Crispy Prawn • Spicy Double Cooked Pork Belly • Mee Goreng w/ Beef • Passionfruit & Lychee Mocktail • Classic Pearl Milk Tea

The food was very tasty with great flavour combinations. Our favourites were the Wagyu Beef & Black Truffle XLB, Plum Duck, Prawns and the Mee Goreng. The amount of food we ordered would’ve been plenty for 4 people 💯

Highly recommend giving Wu...
