“A Night to Forget—An Utter Disaster!”

Where do I even begin? My experience at Curry Express (Surfers Paradise) was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. It was a group of 15 members including kids. From the moment we walked in, we could feel a sense of impending doom, but little did we know how truly awful the evening would become. The ambiance? If you enjoy sitting on unclean tables that looks like it was scavenged from a yard sale, then maybe this is your vibe. Not to mention, the temperature inside was absolutely sweltering.

Now, onto the food. Oh, the food. How do I describe something so tragic? I wouldn’t serve it to my worst enemy. The Chicken Vindaloo tasted like cardboard dipped in sadness. I suspect the chef either forgot how to cook or never knew in the first place. Everything served was bland, seemingly stale, overcooked, and arrived lukewarm—like it had taken a detour through the seventh circle of culinary hell. Worst were Chicken Biryani, Rice (seem to made of rubber) & Daal. I’ve had more fulfilling meals at a gas station. The service was equally abysmal. The Owner acted like we were an inconvenience from the moment we sat down. Requests for Spoons or condiments? Met with an eye-roll. It was like they’d rather we just left than bothered to enjoy our meal (which, in hindsight, we should have). The Rotis were the final insult. I ordered a mix of Naan & Rotis, hoping for a redeeming moment. Instead, I received something that looked and tasted like it had been sitting in the back of a fridge for a week. Absolutely inedible. By the end of the night, we couldn’t help but laugh at how monumentally awful the entire experience was. It’s almost impressive how every single element of the evening was a disaster.

Goat Masala (Curry) ($25.99) & Saffron Rice ($7.99): This is my first time trying meat of goat in my entire life and I haven’t seen any restaurants in Taiwan having goat related dishes. To be honest, in my opinion, goat meat tastes similar to lamb but the difference is the texture, which is more tender. Moreover, goat meat also has bigger bones than lamb. The taste of the curry itself is extraordinary and delicious no wonder the name of the restaurant is created this way and some sliced vegetables and onion slices are hidden inside. The saffron rice here is orange and has a sweet flavour, which is unique because mostly they should be in yellow.

Mango Lassi ($4.5): It is relatively sweet, authentic, and much better than most of the mango lassis I’ve tried before.

In conclusion, the woman is very nice and passionate, the delivery speed is decent, and the portion of the foods is sufficient. You can also make one thing (Mango Lassi/Samosa/Cheese Naan/Can of Drink/Indian Tea) complimentary if you write a review on Google Maps (scan the QR code if you don’t know where to do it) like me. The restaurant is located just opposite Q1 and cross the Surfers Paradise G link tram station. Most of the seats are in the outside the storefront that you might get sweating under the scorching hot weather. However, they also have takeaway section inside and do delivery services, which are convenient and easy door people who don’t want to eat outside. Overall, it’s a 9.5 out of 10!
