On our 10 day food safari of the Gold Coast, looking for exceptional food.
Based in Google Maps ratings we came here, and it didn't disappoint.
We had an excellent tom yum goong. Very rich, aromatic, quite sweet (very unusual), dark, spicy, even a bit caramel-like as it cooled. We always leave a bit at the end and try it nearly cold - you will learn a great deal. We had the entree size and it was still enough for two to have a good serve. It was easily 10/10, as good as any we've ever had in Thailand.
We also had a gorgeous smoky crab fried rice. Delicate, generous, with a good amount of lump crab. Also 10/10.
In addition we had Choo Chee Barramundi. It too was very good indeed. It had all the flavours and depth, and was better as it cooled. We rate it as 8.5/10, but we understand that we are a bit hard core when it comes to our Thai food.
We found that eating the crab fried rice at the same time as the Choo Chee masked some of the Choo Chee flavours and depth, so maybe leave the crab fried rice till after the choo chee đ.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back this week. We will come at a quieter time and take our time, and take the opportunity to talk to chef.
We couldn't help ourselves, we just had to come back 3 days later. Chef Wendy (owner), cooked us her wonderful tom yum goong (easy 10/10), a spicy beef jungle curry, and a glorious Khao Soi.
This was the first time we have ever had true and authentic jungle curry in Australia, and it was in fact better than nearly all the ones we had in Chiang Mai. It was aromatic and earthy, herbaceous, layered, with a wonderful depth of flavour. It is however, like all jungle curries, an acquired taste. We loved it.
The Khao Soi was rich, luscious, and with the proper leg of chicken. I just love the textural symphony of Khao Soi. So good.
If you are Thai, or really love authentic Thai food, get yourself here. Just make sure you tell the staff you want the authentic version and that you appreciate real Thai food.
We live in Brisbane but we will happily drive down here just for this food.
Congratulations to Wendy and More More Thai. Great food.
Again today we had a delicious Tom Kha, crispy chicken, crab fried rice (again) and a Penang curry. All were 10/10. This is seriously great Thai food.
Back again several months later, and had superb yen ta fo seafood (with some perfectly rendered crispy pork belly), a delicious slow cooked, fall apart beef massaman, and that excellent crab fried rice. Such good food here.
The yen ta fo was perfectly balanced between sour and sweet, and was a generous serve. It was as good as any that we had at Victory Monument in Bangkok.
Congratulations to Wendy and her...
Read moreI had the most incredible dining experience at More Thai Broadbeach â it truly deserves a five-star rating! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and enthusiasm, and the ambiance immediately set the perfect mood for a memorable evening. The dĂŠcor was charming, with a perfect blend of traditional Thai elements and modern touches, making it a cozy yet vibrant place to enjoy a meal.
The service was nothing short of spectacular. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations with a genuine passion for the menu. They made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our entire visit, and itâs clear that they take great pride in providing top-notch service.
Each dish was a symphony of flavours, bursting with freshness, depth, and authenticity. The Tom Yum soup was a zesty explosion of spices, perfectly balancing tangy, salty, and spicy notes that left me wanting more. The Pad Thai was sensationalâ perfectly stir-fried, with a delightful crunch from the peanuts, and the perfect hint of sweetness and spice. The green curry was rich, creamy, and had a beautiful kick to it, showcasing the freshest ingredients.
Everything was impeccably presented, and you could taste the love and care that went into every dish. The portions were generous, and I left feeling completely satisfied but already planning my next visit.
More Thai Broadbeach offers not just great food, but an experience. If you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine served with a side of exceptional hospitality, this place is a must-visit. I canât wait to return and explore more of their menu! Truly a...
Read moreI was introduced to More Thai a while ago and I just loved it from the get go, the flavours are amazing, portions are large, service is great and so is the speed. I've been ordering them on uber ever since because I can't always make it there and I couldn't be happier honestly.
I decided to take some friends and have a Birthday dinner there recently on the 5th of May and they held my reservation, the place was packed they were the only ones open during Labour Day! We had a great time and all my guests where very pleased with the food, some of them haven't been before and will be going regularly! I honestly just can't give them enough praise, I'm very particular about good food as I cook myself and to find another venue that really hits the mark is just fantastic. I'm about to order another Pad Thai on Uber - as for my recomendations, I'm yet to find any dish on the menu that I don't like, I highly recommend the cripsy chicken, massaman beef curry (all the curries actually) and the entreès are awesome too.
Something else to mention is the prices are actually really good, I have closer thai restaruants to me here in southport that charge more and frankly just don't deliver on the flavours or portions. I promise you won't be dissapointed and make sure to try new dishes as you go!
Thanks again Nan,
Kind...
