Located in one of the nicer sections of Southport, SENS Coffee is located in the retail frontage of the Meriton hotel.
The cafe is well laid out with concrete floors, typical wood tables that fit groups or singles. There’s a big, thick, wooden table that fits eight comfortably. I know where I’ll be coming next time my friends and I go for breakfast. There is outdoor seating as well.
Although Southport is a mixed socio-economic area, with plenty of areas in the lower end of that scale, SENS is in an area that’s great for the trendy local, or tourist who’s staying at the hotel or just jumped off the G:link tram at Broadwater Parklands station.
Speaking of trendy, the staff here all seem to be young and trendy, with appropriate music pumping at a volume that will get your foot tapping (is foot tapping still a thing? I’m getting old), but won’t disturb a conversation. Or in my case, reading a book (geeks are cool).
The coffee is good. The Campos supplier makes sure the baristas who make it are well trained.
Tips:
Street parking may be an issue in the area, but If you park closer to where the water meets the bridge there’s usually a couple sneaky spots. The retail precinct (it has a Woolworths supermarket) also offers free covered parking for 90 minutes.
the nearest restrooms are out the main entrance of the cafe, and down the street into the shopping centre. If you’re new to Queensland, get used to this concept of multiple business sharing one restroom area, it seems to be the norm.
There are other restaurants and cafes in the immediate area, but you won’t find as good of coffee or as trendy a...
Read moreHi Sens, We love your food, Cafe, location, aesthetics and everything you have to offer product wise. The food is delicious and the menu options are creative without compromise on taste.
I love that you made Natto into a tasty pasta dish that really transformed my view of Natto. This type of creativity is what I specifically love about your Cafe.
Disclaimer: the comment below only speak for a minority of staffs at your place. We had an exceptional with the Japanese staff membes who really are the ones who keep us coming back.
But there's a 'but'. Despite the high quality products provided. Your staffs really tarnished my experience at the 3 times I've been. Each time I was hopeful that it was just a bad day. The customer experience at this Cafe I would describe as 'weird'. Your staffs barely interacts with me. For example, when I am ordering, it was simply like ordering on a machine. Not bad but definitely not a 5 stars review.
What made me rate this a 1 star was that when I brought my little pup with me on a hot day, a staff member expressed in a rude and loud tone 'no, no, no', when I simply asked if there's anywhere we could sit inside because it was so hot (just a question, I was not expecting a yes). This made me feel very unwelcome and embarrassed as a simple question was made into such a massive deal.
Anyway, I am just commenting to help you guys improve as I really truly love going to Sens. Hopefully my ratings will change to 5 stars...
Read moreHad THE BEST brunch of my life here and considering how much I love my food and how much we eat out at nice places - that says a lot. I ordered the beef cheek benny(even though I’m not usually a Benny fan). It was TO DIE FOR. My mum ordered the French omelette and her only complaint was that it was so good but so big(which isn’t really a complaint? Who can whinge about too much food?) I tried it and it was amazing, the pesto was absolutely delicious. My partner and dad both ordered the mighty breakfast and it definitely didn’t disappoint! It was huge and everything was cooked perfectly. But back to my Benny - I would lay down in traffic for this meal - highly recommend. But the best thing about our brunch was the service. We had a slight hiccup with ordering(which I 100% put down to my dad ordering and not paying attention) but the staff were very quick to fix it without any hassles! I’d like to give a special mention to Haru who took our order, fixed our ordering issue and was SO beautiful and kind. We’d sat down and talked about ‘should we go and grab cutlery’ or ‘do we ask for some table water?’ Haru had taken care of everything to the point where I said to my mum, ‘there’s a full cutlery thing here, when did that even get here?’ It’s a small thing but shows how amazing she is and cares about our experience. I’ll be coming back just for her incredible friendly service and smile! The only problem with this place is trying to pick...
