Yuyin Chinese Cuisine — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Firstly, I did takeaway from Yuyin.

I came here about 3 years ago (2021) with some friends and I thought their food and food selection was decent at the time. Fast forward to a week ago (2024), I ordered takeaway from Yuyin. I asked for the Dried Scallop Egg White XO Sauce Fried Rice, a dish only very few stores on the Gold Coast make. Forget the waiting time of nearly an hour (I guess is expected during dinner times), the two takeaway boxes I got looked nothing like the photo they have. I haven't had the dish in person but the dish mostly didn't have the basic ingredients in the name, I'll tell you that. It was more like an assorted seafood fried rice cooked quite blandly. I hope to try the real thing in person, but when I looked and had it, I was quite disappointed.

I did ask the counter woman if this was indeed the Dried Scallop Egg White XO Sauce Fried Rice (I had a glimpse into my takeaway bag and I was confused as heck) and she said it was in a more dismissive sort of tone and so I didn't follow up on it further.

Like I said, I hope to try the real dish in person because what I had wasn't it and I was quite disappointed in the quality at all of whatever I got and I'm quite lenient, especially when I know I got the wrong dish. Just make sure the takeaway you get from them is what you want and what...

Upon entering reminds me of the beautiful full service Chinese restaurants in Macau and Hong Kong. Unfortunately that’s where it stopped for us. Been a couple of times now on a Monday lunch service for Yum Cha and was not too busy at all. Service very slow for just 3 of us, Asian customers appeared a priority with prompt attention to them. Maybe somewhat explainable as they speak Mandarin with staff. Unfortunately food was nothing special, one dish was very nice leaving us wanting more however only left us describing the other three dishes as tasteless frozen reheated deep fried finger food you would pick up down at your local suburban hamburger snack bar. Best thing was their lovely jasmine tea we were chugging down to try and cut through the grease. Was just worth nothing what we paid for food and service. Will probably not return however I do hope they can improve their game on food and service as it is obvious it is popular amongst Asians and with such a beautifully themed restaurant fit out and decor it has so much potential to be best in class amongst that competitive...

I got takeaway here today at around 8pm and brought it home to eat it and after a few mouths realised that it was all off. I’m going to have to report this if I get food poisoning because I’m 5 months pregnant.

We called the restaurant and they insist that it’s not bad, even told us that it’s Singapore rice noodles and that it’s can sometimes smell sour. I’m asian (been eating Singapore noodles my whole life) and I know Singapore noodles is not meant to smell sour.

It’s past 9pm now. We have refrigerated the food and will bring it back to let them smell it tomorrow and get a refund. Apparently we will need to also keep the food so that it can get tested in the event if I fall sick. Let’s just hope they don’t take it from us and attempt to toss it in the bin. Never going back there.

Update**: the restaurant messaged us after reading this feedback and was very responsive and apologetic including giving us a refund after that. Will be changing my reviews to 3 star cause I do appreciate...
