Brought my parents and children here yesterday to visit Redcliffe and for a bit of breakfast as my Step Dad was keen for a pie and saw the bakery. I’ve never been here but it was quite busy so thought it must be good. Walked in and was quite full of people, small seating area indoor and looked ok. Decided to line up and ordered a Cornish pastry, meat pie, chocolate muffin, custard scroll and fudge brownie. The brownie was so small, I actually asked for a fudge brownie and chocolate muffin but for some reason the staff member thought I wanted to swap it out, had to come back and order more things later so was a bit annoyed. Came back and ordered the chocolate muffin and carrot cake muffin.
Found a table but it was so squishy and table could have done with a wipe, felt like we spent way too much for the items we bought. Anyway, Mum said the Cornish pasty filling was too peppery and couldn’t finish it and the meat pie was ok. My daughter had the chocolate muffin and it was extremely dry and almost rock hard on the top and it crumbled a lot and honestly looked like it was baked last week, not fresh and she couldn’t finish it. I had the carrot cake muffin and for some reason it just tasted of cinnamon, like overkill, the cake was a bit too moist and squishy but the cinnamon was just too much I couldn’t finish it at all.
Overall a bit disappointed as I’ve read good reviews about this bakery but yesterday’s visit was just not the best. Felt like items were quite expensive for the portion size and could have done better to keep the place tidy and clean. The serviette dispenser was a nightmare, serviettes wouldn’t tear off properly and there was a build up of serviettes and other bits of rubbish at that corner of the shop and I didn’t notice any staff come around to clean that area or the other tables that were empty. Anyway might reconsider visiting in a...
Read moreI was profiled by one of the staff members.
As a Redcliffe local, Banjo’s was my go to place and food and staff were usually nice but sadly, I have to share one star review.
I ordered online on the afternoon of the 6/10/25. (I love Banjo’s online order system as I don’t need to line up at the main counter.) The lady was busy making coffees where people collect online orders. I was politely waiting beside her for over 10mins. No eye contact at all. When she finally asked me what I was waiting for. I told her that I ordered online then she asked me to show my phone. I left my phone outside at the table so I told her that I am never asked to show my phone by the staff for previous online orders. Weirdly She demanded to me to show my phone again instead of asking my name. She treated me like I was an idiot. I came back with my phone then she said to me there wasn’t any Uber orders. (My actual order was already prepared on the table when I got back to her.) Then she realized I was not an Uber driver! I couldn’t believe it because I noticed she was checking the order display system frequently while she was making multiple coffees. If I was Caucasian (I am Asian) would she instantly think I was an Uber driver!??? Even know there wasn’t an uber order at all! She should not treat customers or uber drivers like this. Disgusting experience!!! I left there...
Read moreI know Banjos from my time living in Tasmania. Love it even thrilled to see a Banjos in Redcliffe. Excellent food and choice consistent with the quality I was happy with in Tasmania. All 5 star review, great staff for atmosphere at the most a 2 and only because of the mess underneath the canvas caused by the pidegons. I know there is a sign of "do not feed pigeons" but they still hang around and obviously try to pick up food that dropped on the floor or left overs on plates after patrons have left... So they sit on under the canvas standing on the steel frame of the outdoor canvas & ups... Make it messy and it's such an unsightly thing to be confronted with
I rave on about Banjos and bring my guests there and today even some locals that have been living in Redcliff for a long time but was their first time to eat at Banjos, and they lauded the food but were disgusted of the pidegons and what they do. May management look into this and clean up the mess.on the beams.
It appears to me that the pidegons have sought out Banjos to hang out and use it as their t...let.. please address this .. as I hate to take my guests somewhere else. Thank you Management for seeking a permanent solution, olease first clean up the mess and research how to keep...
