The Wild Pony Hahndorf — Restaurant in Hahndorf

I don’t know where everyone else that’s given this place five stars went, but it certainly wasn’t this place. The food was absolutely awful. Like, we had to harass staff to let us have a table as the Haus down the road for a pick me up after kinda awful.

We saw the site on Freaky Feeds or Adl Food one of the popular, dishy tik toks that showcase the juicy hidden gems and spish new cafes and restaurants constantly popping up in Rads.

First off, I’m a BIG customer service person and one of the older guys was lovely and helpful, a real John Wayne (in his hunky Hollywood era). The other guy on the BBQ was pretty gruff. The one serving us, new, blunt and rude. That should have been our first telling sign.

The food… holy macaronis do I have a list of complaints. I’ll break down the food for y’all just to make it easier and less confounding to read.

Pico de Gallo = flavourless tinned tomato mush

Guacamole = wish I could rate it but at 12pm during service they told us they weren’t serving it that day

Tacos (chicken and beef) = flavourless mush. The only saving grace were the fresh street tortillas

Corn = wet, barely barbecued tasteless rods

Nachos = by far the most embarrassing, tasteless slap of meat on literal Doritos with a place, tasteless cheese sauce

And I know employees can’t control nature but hell, bring your bug repellent because there is a heinous amount of wasps in this location. Also a lot of rubbish in plastic grocery bags lying around? Weird.

The only saving grace were the drinks which were pretty mild on the tequila scale but bloody DELICIOUS nonetheless. That’s the only reason I gave this place a 2. Otherwise, massive disappointment. My suggestion is literally anywhere on the...

we had a booking for a birthday at 5pm and rocked up at 4:30, we weren’t greeted or anything, but whatever some places work that way? we approached the bar and a lady told us they were going to close in the next hour, even though they are supposed to be open til 7. she said it was because their slushy machine broke and were understaffed but there were only two other tables and staff standing around doing nothing or chatting to each other.

my partner went to order some drinks, bartenders were on their phones and vaping behind the bar and at the food prep area. the service was bad, this certain guy who served us only said a ‘yep’ and then before we paid, ‘tip?’

when we walked out, the same lady asked us if we were leaving, we said yes as only about half an hour after our whole party arrived wouldn’t be enough, she then said she was ‘planning on staying open until 6 for us’. even if an hour would have been enough time, no one told us their plan. i can’t say much about the food, but the other reviews don’t seem to rate that either.

From the moment I stepped into The Wild Pony, I knew I was in for something special. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable experience. The staff are both attentive and friendly, making you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. We attended Sunday and although they were busy, the staff were so accommodating especially with our little ones.

Now, let's talk about the drinks—absolutely phenomenal! Every drink is a masterpiece, expertly crafted with the finest ingredients and bursting with flavour. As for food The Nachos were a standout, with layers of complexity that danced on my palate.

I can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to return for some more live music...
