If the front door is not in use, please close it instead of keeping it opened so people won't walk for several stairs and realise there is no entrance in the front door while struggling to find the ONLY back door entrance. A sign will also be helpful since not everyone knows where to get into the restaurant if the most significant entrance is closed.
If dinner order can only be taken in bar area, it would be nice to state clearly in the menu. I get confused because when having breakfast and lunch here, we order from the table.
I looked at other Google reviews, so I am not the only one who have issue about the services. I was not expecting the waiter/waitress to come and serve us without any sign but I do think they should be alerted enough to be able to pick up my attempt to make eye contact with them, which indicates there is a need for some services. Not to mentioned when we tried to talk to her by saying "excuse me" when she passed by our side and she still ignored us.
The food itself is good and paired with the price. However, I will try NOT to get there again due the bad customer service and unhappy dining experience. I feel very disappointed and sad about this because The Metz used to be a restaurant I enjoyed going. Now this...

Very popular with young people, who love the vibe, the buzz, the wide selection of excellent dishes, accompanied by great value prices. Eg Wed night special, $10 pizza from their fabulous new wood fired oven. Along with a varied menu, plus their nightly specials. Ideal for functions, parties, reunions, or just meet and greet, wine and dine. Inside the decor is slick, modern, comfortable and relaxing. Our choices were, the special, seared Cape Grim strip loin, gruyere potato croquette, grilled baby cos lettuce & buerre blanc. Roasted duck Maryland, crispy duck leg served with Waldorf salad. Both were excellently prepared and presented, very tasty. Enjoyed the local Tasmanian wines with our dinner. Desserts, baked cheese cake with a berry compote, and poached pears in red wine. Very satisfying. The service, for the amount of people waited on, was amazing, which compliments the experience. We have reserved a table to enjoy a beer and a pizza next Wednesday evening. ...
Read moreOur first evening in Hobart with accommodation in Battery Point and, not having been before, we did not really have any idea where to go for dinner. We stopped in at a restaurant but, due to not having a booking, we were politely shown the door. We stumbled across Metz and, whilst they were really busy, the staff found a spot for us. We shared the Herb & Garlic Mini Pizza with straciatella, olive oil and house pickles and the Rosemary Potatoes with melted straciatella and parmesan. I thoroughly enjoyed the Burrata served with grilled ciabatta, prosciutto, confit cherry tomatoes, fried chilli oil and honey - delectable flavours and fragrances and beautifully presented. My friend equally enjoyed her order of Fried Calamari with wakame, pickled chilli, sesame and green nahm jim dressing. The restaurant was noisy, but this was understandable given that it was a Friday evening. This did not detract from the experience. Staff were friendly and left us to enjoy our meal. I have to repeat - the Burrata was delicious - well worth...
