Travelling through Hobart and I had a craving for pizza on this cold winters night and after reading the high reviews, thought we would check it out for ourselves and so glad we did. First of all, the service is outstanding, the young lady was very professional, easy to talk to and friendly. She even came out and turned on the heating for us and offered us cold water. She is an asset to this pizza place. Didn't take long for our food to arrive on our table. I love my pizzas and have had pizzas from all over the world (USA, NZ and of course AUS for example) and deadset, this is the best pizza I have ever eaten in my life hands down. The base was a perfect thickness, the quality ingredients used (the prosciutto was so damm good and loved how there was a good amount on the pizza), the sauces, the flavours, it was all perfect (we ordered the Connoisseur and Buffalo Bill). It was all mouthwatering and loved it all. Cooked to perfection. I could not fault one thing at all. What also really impressed me was the way the pizza was cut (bite size pieces I think they called it) . I will be honest, at first I was like will this work but after eating pizza this way, I will always only eat pizza this way. Brilliant idea. The pizza cafe/restaurant has a simple layout yet elegant and very welcoming/cosy and I loved it. Felt very welcoming. There is a great range of beer to choose from. You know how when you travel and you find a place you love and next time you return you go back, well this place has done that to me. If you are a local or travelling through Hobart, I highly recommend/suggest you check this place out, you won't regret it (unfortunately I will need to wait until I am in town next, am from VIC).

Interior design is simplistic with a hint of modern and old. Really coz place plus the staff there are very friendly and welcoming! The food deserves applause. Their pizzas are fantastic, not only has a perfect combination of toppings been picked out for each pizza but the actual pizza dough they make was so good, my partner who is a chef himself went up to the chefs in the kitchen to ask how they made it because he was so impressed. Great selection of drinks and starters too! We ended up having loads of different beers, the chatuarie board, the three cheese cazlone, the seafood pizza and the metropolitan one. Our bill came to about $130 which was not bad at all shared between 3 adults plus considering how much we ordered. Portions are good, we even took plenty for takeaway because we could not finish it all. YUM!!

Fantastic pizza. Ordered the vegan herbivore pizza. They use a high quality vegan cheese produced locally. All ingredients were to a high standard on a will made base. The decor and aesthetics of the bar are also unique and visually pleasing. They have a good selection of pizzas and drinks. I look forward to going back again!

My mother, brother, and partner brought me to Metropolitan this evening for the first time and for my birthday dinner. We ordered four completely different pizzas (including one gluten-free and vegan pizza) and all four of them were brilliant and extremely tasty!

The service from Adam was lovely and he has a great sense of humour! Adam also went the extra mile to make the night special for us and particularly me.

We all highly recommend Metropolitan and we will all visit again soon!

Important side note on the lower reviews

I am not sure how anyone could give anything less than a four star review let alone a one star review - particularly when staff have gone out of their way to correct any issues that have arisen during the global COVID-19 pandemic and the first impending technical recession in Australia in close to 30 years.

It would be nice if people supported our local small businesses more (especially new and young businesses!), and it would be great if people could be a lot more lenient (i.e. not giving a one star review without first trying to resolve the situation privately) at a time where business owners - and often their loved ones - are facing extreme financial stress and/or losing their life's work.

I am not infallible myself - nor am I a paragon of virtue - but I personally know just how important it is to give...
