We stayed at the Grand Chancellor Hotel and booked breakfast for 3 days ; booked a table next to the window to enjoy the view for all 3 days.
1st day - Someone had breakfast on our behalf. Window table was reserved for VIPs, so we were moved to another table. Food was ok, staffs was great.
2nd day - All went well.
3rd day - The omelette chef was not to the standard. He forgot to add many ingredients we requested to the omelette, he put very little ingredients on the omelette and it was undercooked. Drinks was to be ordered at the table. I waited for over 5 minutes, nobody turned up to take the order. A group of 4 people turned up to the restaurant, their drinks order was taken instantly. Another group of 2 people turned up, again their drinks order was taken instantly; while I'm still waiting, raising my hand to get someone's attention. Went to the bar twice and I was told someone would come to the table shortly. Unfortunately. We were done eating. Had to go back to the bar a 3rd time, that's when the supervisor Emma apologised and sent someone straight away. Once the drinks was brought to the table, it was messy (see picture attached). The supervisor brought another HC later. It was a bad experience on the day
Later during the day, we were called by the F&B manager in regards to this issue. It was a nice gesture and we really appreciate the effort.
Vegetarian option is very slim at the restaurant. Although it is mentioned free, the HC and lattes are not. Machined drinks are chargeable.
Well done to Emma and Prassan for making things better for us....
Read moreProbably the most underrated reastaurant in Hobart. We have eaten here about 20 times and it is absolutely and consistently excellent. Despite what another reviewer stated there is no service charge for eftpos payment, just for credit cards. Cash is not preferred in a pandemic! - even if currently Tas is covid-free ( it cannot stay that way, once most of us are vaccinated). The menu only changes slowly, but that helps the consistency I am sure. You will need to order a side dish or two for $8 (currently, and so priced for the last 4 years). We usually get just one for the two of us: broccolini with almond granita which is always perfect. The menu is not particularly adventurous, but never boring for a first or second visit, and always delicious. The ambience is good for a hotel and a window table gets you views of Constitution dock with all the lovely boats, historic buildings and lights. Service is silver service and professional but reasonably leisurely, so do not be in a hurry. Perfect for those like us, who prefer smaller serves and great flavours. We often just have a main each and a shared side for dinnner so that is not expensive. You can now get an entree each, a mains each and a shared dessert, all as picked by the chef on the night, for $55 each. $110 AUD plus drinks seems a very good deal as you can be assured everything will be very good so we cannot wait...
Read moreAbsolutely outstanding dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed, their hospitality made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a lovely dinner with friends or family.
What really sets this place apart is their commitment to using the best local Tasmanian produce. Every dish bursts with freshness and flavour, and you can truly taste the seasonal produce.
The menu is creative and changes regularly to showcase what’s best right now. They have beautiful house-made pastas with local greens, seafood straight from the coast, and vibrant salads with heirloom veggies.
Our waitress, Mietta, was a highlight of the evening. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and the Tasmanian wines on offer, and her passion for food and hospitality shines through in every interaction. She took the time to explain the origins of the ingredients and made some fantastic recommendations.
There’s a real sense of generosity here, from the portion sizes to the warm service. You can tell the team genuinely loves what they do, and it makes for a truly memorable meal. If you’re looking for an outstanding Italian food made with the best of Tasmania, this is the place to go. Highly...
