I stayed 2 nights on a business trip, and was appreciative of a complimentary upgrade.
I am not sure that this hotel is 4 star, perhaps 3 star.
The whole building including the room had a strong musty scent. The lift was old, smelt very musty, and overall felt like it had seen better days (it made me nervous).
The television was an old first generation flat screen, and only seemed to pick up local analogue TV channels (no digital TV reception, not a SmartTV, limited options). If you choose to stay in this hotel, maybe take along a ChomeCast dongle or something (the TV had spare HDMI input).
Limited natural light in room, no view. Felt gloomy and didn't help the whole musty thing.
I had to unplug a lot of glowing things to be able to sleep. Bedside clock, microwave oven clock, the TV, they all glowed bright. The smoke detector on the roof had an annoying flashing red light too. I also had to unplug the fridge as it emitted a noisy hum.
Especially if travelling with kids, be careful of the hot water, it is dangerously hot.
Overall, it felt like a staff member had not stayed in one of these rooms overnight and experienced it. While I appreciated a complimentary upgrade from the "budget accommodation", I was left wondering what that might have been like (eeek).
I would not choose this hotel again for the above reasons, however, to be clear...
Although aging, the room was spotlessly clean (apart from the musty odour). Very comfortable bed. Good Wi-Fi download but very slow upload. Quite. Great location (amazing). Friendly staff. I am sure this hotel would be fine for many people, but I'm not sure it is 4 star...
Read moreSuperb location in the heart of everything and only 5 minutes to the water and Salamanca St. Staff was very friendly. Stayed across the road from the main building. Nice place with good space. Has a well equipped kitchen. Bed is comfy. No sound proofing at front of the room facing the street, also has gaps in the windows allowing a slight breeze into the room making it cool during the night. Bathroom is larger unfortunately with all that space the shower is quite small. No lift so be prepared to carry your bags up a flight or two of stairs. They do have parking unfortunately it is a 5 minute walk from the main building and being a public car park the discounted rate is still $18 overnight. Has a washer and dryer in between levels 1 & 2 which is complimentary. TV comes with all channels including some movie channels...
Read moreI visited Tasmania as part of a tour group, and stayed in the Quest Savoy for my final night in this beautiful state. As fate would have it, I would awake with a sore throat and, one positive Rapid Antigen Test later, would be forced to remain in the Apple Isle for an additional week.
The care and support rendered to me by the staff was of the highest possible standard. Between laundry services, regular check-ins to make sure I was OK and the speedy delivery of my Menulog orders, my COVID isolation was made considerably easier and less isolated.
Their commitment to patron well-being is to be commended, and Quest has rocketed to the top of the list of hotels I will stay in in future travels. Comfortable furnishings, competitive rates and, most importantly, caring and motivated staff make them a credit to the...
