A group of us did our regular meet-up and tried this newly renovated place to see how different it would be from days of long ago when it was more of a watering hole. It's been nicely done up, bright and atmospheric. It was quite busy when we arrived so booking ahead is highly advised. As it had been more of a pub back in the day I thought I'd stick with a more traditional meal and opted for the Parmigiana with a drink of local larger. It came to about $44 with the meal also consisting of a set-up of three types of potato (roasted, mashed and grilled) all covered with gravy and some roasted vegs. The meal was very good and plenty of taste and overall quite filling. Service was very friendly and there wasn't too long a wait between ordering and getting your meal. Quite surprising considering how busy they were. Paying separately was also very easy to do. Plenty of free parking around the area. I'd certainly consider coming back again.

The Waggon is truly undergoing a remarkable transformation, and my recent dining experience there was nothing short of delightful. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the legendary Al (Big Al), who graciously allowed me to choose my dining section. The waitress on shift was also extremely courteous and had a very friendly aura about her. Opting for a smaller dish from the dinner menu during lunch was met with no hesitation, and within 15 minutes, I was presented with the exquisite Tuna Cerviche and Jamon. The flavors were impeccable, delicately balanced, and surprisingly affordable. The lunch menu offers exceptional value for the quality of ingredients provided. The wine list is meticulously curated, and the Gala Estate I selected left me craving more. I wholeheartedly recommend booking a table at the Waggon. Trust me, you'll love every moment of the experience. 💪🔥

Beautifully renovated, with a really striking light feature making it feel very modern and high end. Unfortunately the same lights were incredibly bright and cheapened the vibe of the restaurant. They did eventually dim these which helped make the restaurant feel more intimate. Did the $60 feed me option which was good value for money. The food was not my taste, with confusing combinations and lacking balance and freshness in the dishes. Friendly service and we were served by a rotating round of about 4 staff members. We did ask one for a wine list which was never received and then weren’t offered the chance to order another drink after our first. Overall it seemed to be a popular spot and enjoyed by lots of people. Would maybe steer clear of the feed me and try a la carte next time.

I have written hundreds of reviews over many years. I have never previously given as low a score as this one. Let me explain. We booked the first sitting for dinner at 6.20 pm in the main dining room. We arrived on time and were shown to a lovely table. We ordered a bottle of wine, and indicated we would order one entree at a time to share, to both spread the meal out and to judge how many courses to order given we didn’t know their size. This raised no complaints. At 7.10pm, whilst ordering our third dish, we were told our table was rebooked for 7.40pm and we would have to vacate at 7.30pm to “give them time to prepare!” When we complained to the manager, he extended our time to 7.40pm. As our third dish didn’t arrive until 7.15pm, we felt we had no time to order more, so we decided to leave. When we paid our bill, we were charged for three dishes at $18 each, rather than the $ 48 indicated on the menu. When we ( again) complained, we were told because we had ordered separately rather than 3 together we had to pay more. On learning of the issue, the manager refunded the $6 difference. This raises 2 obvious issues— if on booking you are only to be given 1 hour 10 minutes to eat a meal, you should be told that— we would not have booked. Secondly, if there are conditions attached to the price you are to be charged, you need to be informed of them upfront so you can make a decision accordingly. The food we were served was nice, and the venue is attractive. We however left with a very bad taste in our mouths. Our advice is check the conditions applying to your booking before confirming or your night out might be ruined...

Took my partner for his birthday at 7pm. Read all reviews. It sounded awesome. Our experience wasn’t so. We were shown to our table. we looked at the menu. ordered a drink. I asked for the house red wine. My partner wanted a beer. My partner was told sorry but the beer he wanted had ran out. we knew there was cans in the fridge but it wasn’t offered until my partner stated this. we waited and waited for a drink. A glass of wine came but not offered as a taste as I had asked what glass wines they had. Waitress did not know anything about the wine and had to ask. She came back some time later. I ordered a bottle but was not offered a tasting. My partner still did not receive his beer. Sometime later a man brought the bottle of wine. He proceeded to open it and pour a glass of wine. I stated I already had one and my partner did not drink wine. He was waiting for his beer. He stated you cannot take the bottle out of the restaurant. I stated why wasn’t I told that prior to him opening the bottle and it was only for me. One hour after arriving my partner finally got his beer. Meals arrived they were very nice. waitress did not know about vegetables with steak She stated it was potato and potato lol. We ate our meal and paid our account. I stated in my booking it was for a birthday. Nothing was said to my partner so why ask this in the booking. Why ??? I will not be going back. The service was so unorganized. They couldn’t even find pepper and salt. We were given two pepper shakers. We used them thinking one must be salt. It wasn’t but ate our meal anyway. NOT...

We had a booking for 8 people. A few things of note. It doesn't appear the front of house communicate with each other or are assigned sections as although attentive and friendly we were asked by several different servers the same questions about drink and food orders. The renovation is beautiful but unfortunately due to bright lighting it felt like a bistro. The down lights should only be on for cleaning in my opinion. We were not the only table to mention the bright lighting to the server. Three people received their main meals with a 20 minute gap between other people receiving theirs with no communication with us about the delay. If the kitchen is being slammed, all food should still be brought together and you should communicate delays with the table. We were given a bottle of bubbles but only on complaining. The menu is huge, it would help the kitchen alot if you paired back the menu to a few mains and a few sides, especially while new and working through teething issues. Some of our food was cold. The parma has three types of potatoes. Just do one type and do it well, not cold. The risotto was inedible. We so wanted to like this place and have now given it three tries. With so much invested in the renovation, you really have to step up on food and service. This could be a top tier...
