After a very long day working in hospitality at Salamanca Market we went to Capital for dinner.
We had tried to get in the previous Saturday but they were full. Aaron, one of the owners was so genuine and helpful that even though we couldn’t dine there that evening we felt compelled to come back because of his attitude.
The visit did not disappoint, the staff reflected the attitude of The management and from the time we were seated we felt welcome. Our waitress, Lily, was lovely and the food was great.
The cherry on the cake was when we went to pay, once again Aaron asked us genuinely about our evening and invested himself in us and was keen to foster a longer term relationship with us.
As a fellow business owner in hospitality, I try very hard to do what Aaron did so well. My LOUD and STRONG advise for Hobart’s hospitality businesses is, be genuinely invested in your patrons, it is noted and is the surest way of growing your business and creating something that we can be proud of as Hobartians. I realise it takes more effort giving of yourself, however, the value as is immeasurable.
We have found one of Hobart’s jewels, we will be back as many locals before us do on a regular...

The food didn’t take long to come out and was served with a smile. Had the lasagne and beef cheek. Both were great portion sizes. The lasagne had alot of cheese & sauce. But not enough actual mince meat filling. And i wish it had an actual side salad to break up the heavy cheesy sauce. Thankful it had some greens on though. Liked that it was served in a oven proof dish which kept it piping hot. The beef cheek was super tender but not as hot. This had a side of kale & mash, but would be nice with more veggies on the dish.
Still an enjoyable dinner and saw the meal sizes of the pizza and pasta on other peoples tables were substantial. Big enough to share with another person if you want to try different dishes.
Tip: Book a table in advance!
Parking: There is a small free parking lot out the back but make sure you don’t park in the 30min limited row closest to the rd / restaurants. Everything else is 3hr & free from 6pm. Nothing to get from the...
Read moreWow, my partner and I were absolutely blown away! Our journey from Melbourne to Hobart led us to stumble upon The Capital on Saturday night, and we are incredibly grateful for this stroke of luck. We couldn't have asked for a better experience during our week away.
The service at The Capital was truly exceptional, surpassing any we've encountered in years. The two gentlemen running the place embraced us with genuine warmth, making us feel like part of their own family rather than mere tourists. It's clear that they embody the essence of true Italian hospitality, and it made our visit all the more special.
And the food... oh, the food! We opted for the gnocchi and marinara dishes, and they were simply to die for.
If you want a great night with good food and a shot of limoncello, then this...
