The photos on the website looked beautiful and I suspect at one stage this was indeed a beautiful hotel. It is in a great location and the limestone is beautiful. However, it has fallen into a state of disrepair and for what seems to be classed as a 4 star hotel was devastatingly disappointing for our honeymoon. The carpet had deteriorated in many areas and the sideboard/TV cabinet (against which the bed was pushed up on one side, meaning to get off i had to crawl to the end) was so deteriorated you could see the screwheads poking through (see photos). The high rafters were beautiful but covered in dust or cobwebs- i was sneezing so much we got a PCR test! The one light in the bathroom bright enough to do my makeup had to be turned off every 5 minutes as it started to flicker. The furniture was old, faded and in disrepair- none of the beautiful leather in some photos. And we had the ugliest view- but i recognize that's just luck of the draw in any hotel. We have never felt so deceived by clever marketing and were so close to forfeiting our money to stay somewhere else but decided to simply minimize our time in the room. We were so glad to leave and check in to the beautiful Tasman Hotel!

We are travelling from QLD and met a group of friends for dinner and drinks at Waterman’s. From the moment we walked in, the service we received from Lily was excellent. She was so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. As it was happy “hour” the drinks were well priced. My husband ordered a Wednesday night, steak special, which included a pint of beer 🍺 . He was very impressed with the meal (he’s hard to please), so 5 stars for me not having to listen to him whinge! As the night progressed, I ordered a few cocktails. All of these were amazing. My favourites were the Gin Cocktail and the Salted Butterscotch Cocktail - both delicious! Paul then brought me a Hot Island Buttered Rum to try. This was like drinking an alcoholic Maccas Apple Pie. It was hot. It was spiced. It was a perfect cocktail to drink on a cold Hobart night. I loved that it was made in a “cauldron” We will definitely be back to The Waterman’s Hotel.

My friend and I both loved our stay at Waterman's Hotel. A great location with anything and everything you could want in your room. An amazing huge bath with heaps of hot water, big comfy bed, little kitchenette, coffee pod machine, iron, ironing board, hairdryer...everything! A very efficient operation. The staff and the owner are very friendly and helpful. One side of the hotel is super quiet and the other side has an amazing view overlooking the Salamanca markets and water but not as quiet. Highly recommend and we will definitely stay there again. (They make a first class Negroni too!)

DONT GO HERE!!! Myself and a group of friends dropped in for a NYE drink. The place was nearly empty at 11pm .. This is most likely why! Firstly I was waiting in line and the waiter could see I was the next one and ever pointed this out to his college that I was the next but he served the guy behind me. Eventually the first waiter severed me and said sorry for that. I ordered a cocktail at the same time as 2 of my friends. Sat down and minutes later they got their drinks. 2 other friends went to the toilet and ordered theirs after mine and got theirs too. After 30min I got up and enquired politely with the guy that served me. The lady making cocktails said what’s your problem … I’m just making it now. I said yes but others have had theirs made and delivered to the table after mine was ordered? She said nothing and slapped the drink down on the bar aggressively at me. I ask are you not even going to say sorry. She pulled a face and said .nothing . At this stage I asked for my money back. She said you’re not getting it. I then called over the guy that served me but she interrupted rudely and then said you are to talk to me!!! After she refused again to refund I left the drink on the counter. I walked back to my friends who just spent over $150 on drinks and told them what has happened. Minutes later a Middle Aged man with an English accent dressed in a Bright green calypso shirt approached me at the table with my friends and said he is your refund and I am going to ask you to leave.

No sorry, No introduction to who this guy was. I asked him why as my friends were still drinking their drinks. He said I don’t have to give you a reason!!!

Never in my entire life have I ever been asked to leave a drinking establishment . I was not rude .. I did not swear or abuse the staff… I did not raise my voice and was not drunk.

My friends all got up in support and left with me. Don’t ever go to this place would be my best advice. Never have I experienced such odd behaviour . This will find its way to Facebook and Instagram tomorrow … You know what they say tell 10 friends and they will tell 100 others and so on.

All could have been avoided with some go old fashion customer service and that ever disappearing word called SORRY!

Kevin...

Terrible place I ever stayed. Biggest rip off ever! Don't even deserve 1star.

-check in: We booked this place 3months prior but when we were to check in the staff couldn't even find our booking on their system. Check in time cant be flexible and it took us long time till we even get the password from the staff as the staff was serving other people first. (You have to go through pub to get the password from staff for checking in)

-Room itself : There is no lift so forget about big luggage, you will have to carry them all the way by yourself. We stayed in the top floor facing towards the main road, each room has different name but never to stay in Parliament room (that's where we stayed). No aircondition in the room, only one little fan will welcome you when the room is boiling hot inside. Tree pollen were all over the bed and we were told that it's because it's heritage building we can only open the window and they can't do anything about pollen flying through the window. So forget about booking this place of you have asthma.

-Amenities: they said it's serviced apartment with all quality equipments. Again, big no. Washing machine door is broken so I couldn't even do the laundry but washing it on my own in the bath tub, there was no remote control for TV. Tea, coffee wasn't replaced after one day.

-Noise issue: Just be ready to hear anything and everything in Dolby sound system quality in the room. There is a pub downstairs playing crappy live music till late at night, you can even hear the conversation from nexr door guest room. (I wonder why they said this place is adult only) passing by people on the street, cleaning truck sound in the...

When I reserved seating for 15 people 3 weeks in advance for my 50th birthday I was told as we were only going to order share plates and pizza and only a small group I wouldn't need to worry about pre ordering I was also told there would be live music on Saturday nights, from the web site advertising this venue and reviews I had read it had bar games as well, these being the reason we chose this venue. We ordered our share plates and were told they didn't have enough dumplings for two large share plates, they could 2 medium and the can supplement another dish with more to make it up. What we got was extra chicken that was dry and bordering on burnt embarrassing when hosting friends. The pool table was broken and clearly has been for awhile when told the staff they told us you have to lift it to try to shake the balls out sometimes it doesn't work,, no one had a key,I dont think we had one game all night with a complete set of balls. I asked about the giant jenga and others games and was told no we dont really do that maybe people think that because of the pictures on the web site ...well dur...The bar ran out of bacardi and scotch around 10pm, I would have thought they would be fairly standard drinks in any bar particularly on that serves cocktails. You could smell the mens urinals from the table we allocated. The reason I gave 2 stars because the staff were lovely but clearly frustrated. I wouldn't recommend these premises for any event. I'd try...
