I recently visited this cafe, which has gained quite a reputation, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. To begin with, the staff member who took my order didn't inquire whether it was for dine-in or take-away, resulting in my order being prepared as take-away despite my preference for dining in. And also the table hadn’t been properly cleaned. We had to ask the staff to clean it, and only then did they address the issue. Upon receiving my order of a mocha, a latte, and a croissant, I was surprised to find that the coffees were disappointingly watery. It seems I encountered the same issue mentioned in a previous review, where the barista's skills might have been lacking during the afternoon hours. While the croissant was enjoyable, the overall experience was marred by the lack of attention to customer preferences and the quality of the coffees. It's disheartening to encounter such subpar service and drinks from a cafe that boasts popularity. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and improves their customer service and coffee preparation to live up to their reputation. As of now, I cannot recommend this cafe based on my unfortunate visit.

First of all, the building is very artistic and the beautiful font will capture your attention. The words, treat of france just under Bank of new Wales might not give you enough clue of this amazing cafe. Hard to miss, right in front of the woolies metro. The baguette sandwiches cannot get better than this, especially the chicken avo, so crispy in the outside yet soft and smooth on the inside. The slow cooked beef baguettes are my favorite too. Quiche and spinach tart, sausage roll, chunky beef pies - everything is worth giving a shot. Cakes - especially the caramel slice is so, well, for the lack of words, so caramelly, you wish it should be categorized as healthy foods with zero calories. Every single person working in the cafe is very welcoming, smiling and constantly making your day even more beautiful than having a great baguette sandwich for breakfast. Thank you for making my lockdown mornings beautiful.

//Update 5th Feb Pastrami Baguette - don't fold your pastrami in two and have it facing the outer side so it looks like there's two layers because the inside is empty!! The ham cheese tomato toastie at $10!!! consists of one piece of paper thin ham. Quality has dropped significantly. Also, the owner should prob not serve customers as she has not smiled once serving or handing over food and this is over years. Review: Early 2024. Came here since they opened and since moving to Sydney, I am glad they are going from strength to strength to see them busier every time I return. The speciality are obviously the pastries, whether it's the Croissants, Danish or the excellent baguettes with generous fillings. The sauce in these baguettes sets them apart. The coffee is also superb and the service is very attentive and genuinely friendly.

Great Service, Great Coffee but today was disturbing. They made a ‘large skinny flat white coffee’ for a customer by mistake, handed it to the wrong customer, who innocently waited for his Soy large Skinny Flat White and when that was called as ready he advised them that they had handed him the wrong coffee initially. The lady’s whose order was ‘ a large skinny flat white’ refused to accept the returned coffee from the previous customer and they made her a new coffee. My order was for a ‘small skinny flat white’ which was two orders past the original ‘large skinny flat white’. The staff yelled, ‘small skinny flat white’ to which I responded but only to receive a ‘large skinny Flat white’. When I questioned it, the staff said, ‘oh we made you a large by mistake’. No they didn’t, this was the rejected coffee from the two previous customers, for whatever reasons. They did offer to make me a small serve but it was obvious that they just wanted to get rid of the coffee that they had just had rejected by two other customers. Really? You want our support but you also want to pass on rejected coffees in the current environment??? Totally understand you guys are doing it tough with the current restrictions but don’t rip us off for supporting you. I left the building, threw it in the bin outside and won’t return, even though I live within the complex next door. Really disappointed after great service in the past that your staff would pull this stance to get rid of a coffee already rejected by two previous customers. Really disappointing under the current climate that we are...

We were travelling through Melbourne and were desperate for some authentic French patisserie. If you are French and feel the same then do not go there. There is not one French bit about the place. Let’s start with the food, we had baguette sandwich which was supposed to be freshly baked. Well it may have been freshly reheated in an oven from an industrial pack. This was not a French baguette !!!! And all this mouthful dry bread for $10.50. Then we moved onto the dessert: a chocolate and halzenut mousse cake. Very pretty but again disappointing. The chocolate was sirop and not proper ganache. The texture felt all wrong and absolutely not made by French savoir-faire. To top up the experience, one of the waitress was eating an almond croissant with so much enthusiasm we could see the far end of her throat. She was eating just behind the counter as we were placing our order. The waitress who took our order did not understand English nor French. We felt like we were travelling through Asia. There was no price tag and no description on any food. When they brought the food to our table they forgot the dessert. We enquired about it after finishing the sandwich. One of the waiter took it out of the display fridge with his bare hand. He almost dropped it and left a finger mark on the topping. Then he left the cake on its plate for a while there. We looked at it hoping it would make its way to us from behind the benchtop. It did not. We went to them again asking for the shy dessert which they...

Since moving to Melbourne and exploring what Melbourne has to offer in the way of service, innovative and impeccable food and quality coffee, A Treat of France (Southbank) has far exceeded my expectations on all fronts.

FOOD - Their wide range of food options has the ability of adhering to an esoteric group of people whilst simultaneously having your foundations that everybody loves. Bursting with effervescent flavours and tastes that are nostalgic to certain cultures, it reminds me of home.

COFFEE - Melbourne is known for its high tasting quality coffee, and this cafe confirms that notion. No burnt milk, excellent roast and quick service even when there is a multitude of orders, perfect for those tight-on-time mornings.

SERVICE - As a family run cafe, Rose, Ray, Semira and Emre all exhibit a vivacious, and comforting warmth that can only be experienced when surrounded by one's own loved ones. Regardless of the weather or external influencers that may impact your day. Being served and greeted by this group of people adds that bit extra to kick-start or continue your day, it truly feels like a safe haven.

Not only do I recommend the cafe, but you'd be a fool not to have a little...
