It all started badly and got worse from there. Walked in to $50 each ? We stupidly misunderstood and paid following the woman in, she informs us the eating area was very full and you need to eat at the back. I said can we have somewhere quiet as kids were running everywhere. She shows us a table and disappears. Given my fiancee hates buffet we quickly realized what was on offer. After saying we can leave. We he added for the front counter for a refund. The lady at the front told us then that they do al a carte so we decided to give it a go. Worst mistake ever. Please stay away unless they can improve the service and the food. First morning ordered ham and cheese toasties with extra butter and 2 lattes. Toasties were nice but must have been lucky. That used $50 of our already paid $100 So thinking instead of refunding the other $50 we would ask for a credit for the Sunday morning as well. Finally they agreed and we then returned the next morning. The lady that served us the day before towards us and ushers us in quickly saying to her colleagues that we are those people. She tells me we are in a hurry today because there's so many breakfast to do . So we sit down . Mind you the tiny table sits at a padded curved bench seat across from a seat that is so low you can't reach the table to eat . Anyway we decided to order pancakes making sure we left ourselves enough time to go back and get the luggage for checkout. And of course 2 lattes. Time passed we chatted more time passed lattes came. More time passed and more until we nearly gave up . Fiancee gets up to check and miracle pancakes turn up . Wait for it,,,,,cold. Ordered extra ice cream still waiting. Finally ice cream comes fiancee says can you heat up pancakes they are cold .yes sir Rolling eyes ,, waiting again. Finally they come put ice cream on oh my goodness, what is this white rubbish they call ice cream. So appetite gone we decide to leave. Heading for the counter everyone disappears and we are left with a lady who obviously can't understand english as my fiancee trys to tell her how disappointed we are with the place all she could say was thank you yes thank you yes , laugh and wave as we left. We definitely give loads of love and appreciation to those who we review that deserve it but unfortunately in this case ,, nothing to give but disappointment and regret. Hoping they will read this and try to improve . I attached photos ,, they look nice but looks can...

Came here as part of a girls gathering. The restaurant was fairly easy to book online. The only thing was that it didn’t allow us to book an earlier time slot, and only allowed us to book 8.10pm onwards. I thought the restaurant would be fairly busy, but when we arrived, it was empty. So that was quite surprising as we would have loved to have a much earlier dinner slot. We ordered Victoria by the glass, which was 3 mains with 2 glasses of house wine/wine of the day. That was a pretty good deal as it only cost us $67 per pax. Food wise, I ordered the lamb rack, whilst my friends ordered a pork belly and beef. Lamb rack came out perfect, very tender and juicy and not over cooked. The pork belly was really good too, with the perfect crackling. The beef was perfect too, though we found the beef really big and would be more perfect to feed a person with a bigger appetite. The Shiraz which came with the $67 deal was pretty heavy, and I would suggest ordering a white wine instead. Starter was the lobster bisque which was perfect. I had the vanilla brûlée and I loved the caramelization on top. Service wise. Oh well, it started alright. Then it was just difficult to get the server’s attention for water top up. The food service was really slow, considering that the place was pretty empty. You would need to have some food in you before you go to Mr Hive, as the wait is really long. It was more than an hour and a half before our mains arrived. Even for calling of our bill, it took a while before we managed to get the server’s attention. Another interesting thing to note is that the chairs at Mr Hive are not exactly the most comfortable of all chairs. I found it at an ok height as I am pretty short, around 1.58-1.6m, and it was an ok height. My friend who is much taller at more than 1.7m had difficulty getting comfortable in the seats as she had to cross her legs just to feel comfortable. Imagine being in an uncomfortable chair and waiting for so long for food service. The toilets were the same thing. A taller lady would need to have pretty good calf/thigh and mid core muscles to get herself up from the toilet seats. It’s just a design flaw which the restaurant should look into. Overall I would give the place a 3.5 stars. Not exactly good, but not exactly bad. I would come back again if they still have the Victoria by the glass deal. But if the deal ceases, I would not find it entirely enticing...

I just thought that I would take the time to write a review about this restaurant I am not usually one to jump the gun for a public review as I am aware of how damaging this can be to a restaurant but unfortunately in this instance my hands are tied.

I was excited to book a joint birthday celebration dinner at Mr Hive at crown casino for myself and my best friends birthday.

We walked in mentioned our booking alas they couldn’t find it my girlfriends and I look at eachother with a little panic as it’s a booking for ten but no matter we waited they eventually found us, crisis averted we can go in and enjoy our much anticipated dinner at Mr Hive.

We sit down not one introduction from one waiter at all- not one so what are you all doing here ? Would you like a drink or hey even an entree considering this is a restaurant.

Safe to say this theme followed the staff all night long we not once got an offer for food or drinks all night long we sadly had to ask for service each and every single time- how embarrassing.

I am the first to be understanding if a restaurant is understaffed and cannot handle the pressure but the wait staff talking behind us gave no signal that the restaurant was busy beyond control not to mention could a smile be seen from your staff and that does in fact include your dry welcome host (appalling) .

Then to I guess you could put the cherry on my birthday cake dinner was at least an hour behind again I am understanding to fresh good food but the apology was ‘let us get you a free drink but a basic only’ mind you we had been drinking cocktails all night- what a distasteful apology.

Not to mention I did explain this through an email to you directly. And I got a call 3 days later by a member from your team. Who asked what had happened then proceeded to tell me the times I ordered the food and when it had come out which was not correct at all. She proceeded to tell me I would hear from them after 2/3 days of investigation....

So all in all Thank you Mr Hive for your absolutely memorable service I will never forget the experience myself and friends here and will be sure to pass on to anyone who asks what a foul taste you’ve left in my mouth.

Good luck in all your future endeavours if this is how you choose to run...

This is my first visit to Mr. Hive. First glance on the a la carte menu is good. Just the right level of variety to choose from. We decided to have dinner before the magical show at The Palms. The night seem to progress well until we all had our meals ordered. The male waiter asked us if we want to order any drink. We said that we are happy with the tap water. The response from the male waiter was "You can have milk, it's free." Hmmmm...I believe we have the right not to order any drinks. There is no entry rules that we must order drinks as part if the meal. We ordered small plates to share: 1. Tuna with Sesame Sauce - it looks very pretty. The presentation is definitely 10 out of 10. The taste is good. It's very mild. 2. Crab Cigar - the presentation is again 10/10. The taste is ok. Nothing special. Not sure if the crab meat is fresh or frozen. As for the main, it looks like Queensland and Crab Linguini win the popular choice. 3 of my gals ordered it. Looks good and they seem to really enjoy it. Crispy Pork Belly is the second popular dish. 2 of my gals ordered this. They both enjoy the dish especially the broth. It would be great if they have spoon to finish the flavoursome broth. 3 gals including myself ordered from the grill: 1. Victorian Lamb Loin - it's good but the sauce is very salty. 2. Baby Snapper - the fish is nicely grilled. Thought it would be a whole baby snapper, but it's a fillet. 3. Tasmanian Salmon - it's okie. The skin could be a lot more crispy. The fish is slightly overcooked. The polenta fried is perfect. Not sure about the sauce. Very sour. Overall, the service is a big let down especially from within Crown. After we were done with the entrees, we inform the male water that we gotta go to the show at 7.30. Can we have our main out soon? He said that there are 10 minutes wait as other guests also have their orders. We understand but we waited for like 20 minutes and we have to follow up with the waitress. This time she told us that they are placing the food on the dish. Will be out soon. So we pretty much have to finish the main within 20 minutes and run to the Palms, so that we don't miss the show. Not sure if I would come back for the second visit. The service is a -1 and the food is 3. Hmmm...
