Amicus Espresso — Restaurant in Melbourne

The coffee was great, the cashier was very nice, but the barista was unreasonable. Two girls in front of me ordered an iced latte. There might have been a communication issue. The girls thought that she could get an iced latte without ice, so they might say something like "no ice". In the end, the barista made a hot latte. I can assure you that the girls asked politely and with a very calm tone, even somewhat cautiously. They were just wondering if they had ordered correctly. After realizing the misunderstanding, the cashier was clearly thinking about how to resolve the issue. I had ordered a hot latte myself, so I suggested to the barista that I could take this hot latte, and she could make another iced latte for the girls (if she hasn't finished mine and can change it to an iced one). However, before I could even finish, the barista impatiently said, "No." The two girls then took the hot latte and left, but the barista said to her colleagues, "I'm not happy," followed by something in her native language, which was not in English. I wasn’t sure which language it was, and it would be disrespectful to make assumptions, but if you say something you don't want your colleagues and customers to understand, it’s definitely not going to be a compliment.

I totally understand that the barista might have already started frothing milk for the second drink or had used a hot drink cup, but wouldn't it have been better to spend 3 seconds explaining rather than rudely cutting off a customer offering a solution with a single "no"? I didn’t pay for a smile, but I certainly didn’t owe you a sour...

Unpleasant experience with the staff at the store today. She was exceptionally rude and mean. Despite my previous experiences where heating the food was never an issue, she flatly refused to warm up my purchase, claiming it would melt. My attempts to compromise with a brief 30-second heat were outright ignored. She made it a point to serve others around me while blatantly disregarding my order. Amazing, delicious almond croissants. Fantabulous fudgy brownies that are just melt in your mouth when slightly hot - they really know what brownies should taste like!
