Cravin' Crepes Niddrie — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have been coming to Cravin Crepes for years, and never have I left with such a bad taste in my mouth (not literally the food was good). The minute we walked in, we had barely looked at the menu and the older lady with brownish blonde hair immediately said "what can I get you" not even a hi, hello how are you today? I ordered and asked for Nutella and banana, and asked for added peanut butter. I don't work there I don't know what the crepes are called. I just said that and pointed at the one I wanted. As I was ordering, she turned around and talked to her colleague and totally interrupted me ordering. I was set aback by that, had she even heard my order properly?

Our orders came out and I noticed mine was just banana and peanut butter. I walked up and asked one of the workers (not the original lady) and said politely that I ordered this with Nutella but this wasn't what I received. Immediately the original lady, butted in and said no that is what you ordered, and we sat there arguing with each other in front of other customers, when all I wanted was some added Nutella which I would have been happy to have added afterwards and was more than happy to pay the additional 2.50 (overpriced though if you ask me, especially after she had sat there arguing with me)

All I was expecting was a "I'm so sorry, I think maybe we misunderstood each other, let me add the Nutella for you". No big deal. But instead it ended up being a charade. She gave a half hearted apology which I probably would have preferred she didn't, as she obviously didn't mean it. The whole situation was ridiculously unnecessary, and its not the first time I've had a bad customer service experience here. I won't be...

I had my first visit to this place a couple of days ago and will absolutely be coming back. Often.

The food! After ordering, my food seemed to arrive in the blink of an eye. I usually take the time to snap a few photos to share with you, but honestly I just couldn't wait to start shoveling my Poison Apple crepe with vanilla icecream into my drooling mouth. Amazing. Not a molecule left on my plate.

In addition to the delectable treats of offer, the staff are a clear stand out. I spoke to one person who had been working there for eight years. When do you see that in hospo anymore? She took the time to chat to me about the area as I've just moved close by. The staff seem to genuinely get on well together, which brings an almost family atmosphere when you are included in their banter.

For those who are choosy about the atmosphere, there are three options for you. The main dining area is trendy but the music can be a little loud. I actually heard "Gangnam Style" for the first time in over a decade! (It's still as ridiculous as it was back then, in case you were wondering.) You can choose to sit out the front and watch the world go by, or if you want a little privacy the rear Courtyard is ideal. Long timber tables for groups or connecting with strangers, and the ability to order and pay with a QR code on the menu! Love it.

Mixed feelings, the crepes were divine, the young lady making them was efficient and delightful, the crepes she turned out looked amazing (would give her 5 stars) the crepes her co worker put out were sloppy looking and rushed, the other staff in there were absolutley atrocious, the one making crepes was using his fingers regularly instead of the equipment, while playing with the tablet for orders and playing with his phone, serving customers and handling cards and money without washing his hands, this guys idea food safety is a joke. His co worker was worse, not only did he smell like he injected cologne into his pores he was unwrapping a customers crepe with his fingers and inserting the strawberries that were forgotten also with his fingers and the rewrapping it, and then sending it to a table. Food safety is of no concern to some of these staff. I urge you if you see this behaviour return your food to the counter and demand a refund, your health comes first.
