Read moreWent for friends birthday. A friend arrived early, said surname to waitress. Waitress said no one under that name was booked in. The friend pointed to the surname on the list, and was told that's a different name. Friend said they were off by one wrong letter in surname. Waitress said it's not our issue if someone gives wrong spelling of a name. (I found that rude when I was told, as clearly it was the venues error as the birthday girl had sent emails to arrange the booking and her name was right in the email. As well as calling on the day to reconfirm booking.
We were seated for 40 minutes before a guest asked a waitress that we were here for high tea and would anyone be serving us. Any eye contact to get them to come over was ignored initially. One waitress was serving anotjer table while the head waitress was laughing with chef in kitchen. Advised we had booked a month ago, waitress said she had no idea about bookings and that walking off the street for high tea is fine.
She ignored the fact we had a booking And didn't just walk off the street, (other venues always mentioned the need to book) as I was under the assumption the waitress would have the basic information of who had booked.
We had booking for 7 guests, and waitress asked if we wanted to wait for last two (They were stuck in traffic) , we said no, due to already long wait time. She then asked, have you been here long. (Aside from our table, only two other tables had people at that time.) She became annoyed that we were making an issue of waiting for over 40 minutes and dismissed the girl who said she had made a booking.
Food was average. Scones and panacotta were nice, but the other desserts overly sweet and seemed to be all brownies. Sandwiches were dry, yet waitress said they were made that Saturday morning.
As it was a high tea, I asked another waitress if there was any tea coming. Waitress said oh you want tea, you can order those now. (This was well over 90 minutes after being there I would say it was close to 2hrs. I again said we had booked a month ahead where we had advised the manager of the tea we wanted. Other high tea establishments bring the tea with the food, but original waitress seemed to care more about talking to a chef in the kitchen then doing her job.
When tea arrived , we were told our booking was nearly over. I asked does this include the time we were ignored?. Had to ask for another milk, and was asked was the small porcelain milk canister not enough. It was small and five people had tea.
The birthday girl has mobility issues and she became stressed as she felt rushed to go the front to pay the bill. She was also upset over the bad service and average food and the head waitress attitude of not caring. When she asked the waitress some questions, she was dismissed and the waitress spoke to a guest as if it was her birthday. Birthday girl was paying for everybody, she asked waitress to see the bill but not show anyone else. Waitress then passed the bill to her and said the total price out loud. Overall it was a bad experience for someone birthday and I doubt we...
Read moreI don't even know what to say after our experience here. This was the worse service I have ever seen in any restaurant. We received zero service the entire meal. We ordered a seafood platter and our table and anyone else's with the same meal was piled high with oyster shells, prawns etc and nothing was cleared. No one offered us anything without us having to find and call over someone to help. They never refilled our water or looked over once during our entire meal. I asked to order a salad with our meal and they told us it came with a salad. But yet what she meant was the rocket that the oysters sat on for decoration. When we asked for the menu for desert she said are you not full yet? You want more food? The manager saw my husband looking for assistance when no one came over. And he came over and we told him what had happened and he didn't apologise he was telling us they were short staffed. There were ample people on the floor. The staff were talking together for 15 mins at one point when we were trying to get attention. The food was clearly frozen seafood and very average. The tuna sashimi was the best part. We would not recommend and we would not return. I'm really surprised at the caliber of service and quality of food at the Marriott chain. I don't like to give bad reviews but unfortunately in this case...
