Federal Coffee at GPO – Melbourne CBD Nestled in the bustling heart of Melbourne’s CBD, Federal Coffee at GPO offers an exceptional breakfast experience that leaves a lasting impression. The ambience is both chic and cozy, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed morning meal or a quick coffee catch-up. During our visit, we indulged in a breakfast that was nothing short of delightful. The coffee, a rich and aromatic brew, was expertly crafted, providing that much-needed morning boost. It paired wonderfully with our meal, which consisted of porridge and chilli scrambled eggs with bacon. The porridge was a standout—creamy, hearty, and comforting, just the way porridge should be. It was the perfect balance of flavours and texture, offering a wholesome start to the day. The chilli scrambled eggs with bacon were another highlight. The eggs were perfectly scrambled, fluffy, and infused with just the right amount of chilli heat, which was balanced by the crispiness of the bacon. This dish was a creative and flavorful twist on a breakfast classic, providing a satisfying kick that elevated the whole experience. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyment of our visit. Federal Coffee at GPO is more than just a place to grab a coffee; it’s a spot where quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation come together to create a memorable dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a comforting breakfast or a well-crafted coffee, this cafĂ© should be at the top of your list when in Melbourne CBD.

With an alfresco dining at the majestic GPO building, this is a perfect place for a brunch date with your significant others or with friends 💜 the spot is a wonderful place to take a break and enjoy delicious foods and drinks whilst watching the fast paced Melbourne go by! We enjoyed a boozy brunch with some sparkling wine whilst we enjoyed the dishes we ordered! 🧇 FRENCH TOAST- triple cooked French toast with lavender creme anglaise, seasonal fruit & dark chocolate 🐟 POACHED SALMON- salmon filet, Yarra Valley salmon caviar, herb hollandaise, asparagus, tomato & potato salad We absolutely loved both the dishes and the whole atmosphere just reminded us of being in Paris 😍 don't have time to sit down? Visit their takeaway kiosk where you can grab yourself a coffee, pastry or a to-go-meal. The kiosk is so picturesque and defs has that Parisienne vibe!

It was early in the morning when I had purchased from here out of convenience, there was about one group of customers already seated and waiting for their food and I was the second customer therefore there was no excuse to why I was given such poorly prepared food and drinks. I ordered takeaway coffee and croissant as I was in rush, however to my surprise they heated up my croissant so much it burnt and I could taste that from just the first bite, along with that my coffee was served completed cold. I had reached out to Federal Coffee about this however they had at first promptly replied and after suggesting I revisit the store to give it a second chance no response was made after my reply. Makes me really question the service, it doesn’t just reflect this one time experience but the cafe itself and management

Federal Coffee is a charming little coffee shop tucked away on a corner, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots in town. Its cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee. The shop's quaint and intimate setting, paired with friendly staff, creates a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle.

We found ourselves returning to Federal Coffee multiple times, a testament to the consistently excellent experience they provide. The coffee is exceptional, with each cup brewed to perfection. Whether you prefer a strong espresso, a smooth latte, or a refreshing iced coffee, Federal Coffee delivers with rich, robust flavors and a beautifully crafted presentation.

In addition to their top-notch coffee, Federal Coffee offers a selection of delightful pastries and light snacks. The freshly baked goods are a treat, perfectly complementing the high-quality coffee. The croissants and muffins, in particular, were favorites, always fresh...

Although it’s a great exposition of Melbourne cafĂ© culture, the prices are a little steep and some staff weren’t the nicest.

The coffee here was great. With Industry Beans coffee, you can’t go wrong. However, it was $5 for a regular flat white, which is a little steep. I had a lunch here, an avo and eggs on toast. Can’t deny that it tasted great, but again, it was a bit pricy at $18.

It was a mixed bag with staff. Some of them weren’t very friendly or willing to help out, while others were helpful and amicable. I might have eaten on an unlucky day.

In terms of location, the cafĂ© is well located in the heart of the CBD. It has nice seating that is outdoor but covered. There aren’t many, however, and it is often full or close to full.

Would recommend trying for a caffeine fix or a brunch/lunch if you don’t mind spending a bit more than...
