Lona St Kilda — Restaurant in Melbourne

Our group had a booking of 9 in the courtyard as we had previously enjoyed this area of the venue. When we arrived, we were told our table had been moved to out the front of the venue as the courtyard was full, despite pre-booking to secure the table. Out the front of the venue, we were assigned to a bench which had pizza boxes, cigarettes and spilled drinks on the table and chairs and couldn't sit down. We opted for the bench beside it as it was cleaner, but was told to move back to our original bench before it had been cleared so that we could actually sit there. THEN, due to the nature of the benches out the front being in a public area, we were confronted by a female who had already been at Lona and was very intoxicated. She came over and swore at us and proceeded to slap my friend across the face, completely unprovoked. Her male friend proceeded to push another member of our table as she stood to protect our friend. The security guard was aware of this girl, as I saw her pointing at us as she spoke to him prior to this occurring, and yet he did absolutely nothing to intervene as this unfolded 4 metres away directly in front of him.

Is it the venues fault that this girl behaved the way she did? No. Is it the venues fault that we were sitting out the front in a vulnerable location rather than inside the venue in the courtyard as we booked? Yes! That is the whole purpose of booking in advanced. A member of your team was apologetic for what had happened but unfortunately what was meant to be a fun birthday celebration was...

Our table did the bottomless cocktail package and while the cocktails tasted fine, the quality definitely wasnt worth the price. We paid $90 each for bottomless cocktails for 2 hours with no food included and all cocktails were on tap (which is fine but it isnt the same as a shaken cocktail). Instead of having an organized start and end time, we were told to use the qr code on the table to set up the bottomless package, so each of us obviously had varying start times (by a few minutes). We were each then given receipts which had different expiry times on them, indicating when the package would end. By the time it came to the end of the package, we went to order our final drinks and we were told that the expiry on our receipt didnt matter, it was actually dependent on the first person who set up the bottomless package, so most of us didnt get a final round. Essentially we just missed out on one more drink but the front of house staff should have definitely communicated this to us - the bar stuff did nothing but put the blame on the front of house. Futhermore, we tried to order basic drinks (i.e. rum and coke), which should have been part of the deal - according to the menu, but the bar stuff said we could only order cocktails. Definetly seems to be a lack of organization and management.

Long story short - there are alot better places to go to for bottomless packages with better value and better...

I stumbled upon this spot for their vegan menu, and it completely exceeded my expectations! From the delicious plant-based dishes to the warm and welcoming staff, every part of my experience was fantastic. I can’t recommend this place enough and am already looking forward to coming back!
