The atmosphere and place was great and staff were super kind. We ordered the pork and beef combo between 2 ppl. They provided 7 different sides, which were really nice, which included steamed egg, salad, tofu bean soup, sauces, rice corncheese, and pop chicken.
The sides were good besides the corncheese, which was mainly cheese than corn, and provided a nice variety. However, the meat itself in the combo was subpar and didn't feel worth the value. It included beef slices, which was okay but was a cheap type of beef, more suitable for hot pot rather than a kbbq, pork belly which was cut kind of awkwardly and wasn't a full strip, and galbi beef which was really thin (and yes its meant to be thin but I think more thin than usual).
The food itself was alright, but I wouldn't say the best meat with 98 dollars for two, and I've known other places that do the same price but better quality meat.
We also had the Elton mess i think it was called? Which was meant to be a Strawberry shortcake but was more like a Strawberry with pavlova. Was nice, sour and creamy. Not bad
I don't think the place blew my mind, but it was alright. And the staff were kind and...
Read moreAfter reading some of the reviews for this new restaurant I was stunned and so I don’t mind standing alone in posting my review. Quite frankly if someone returns to this place after they were totally ripped off the first time then you deserve to be played. We found it so overpriced for the amount of food in return. The portions were small and we found ourselves still hungry once the tiny portions ran out. Compared to another Korean bbq restaurant at Highpoint it is a huge let down. We are talking all you can eat to satisfaction. And so much more options. The Korean bbq restaurant at Highpoint is so much better as it’s all you can eat and the quality and quantity is 10 times better. It’s extremely popular and typically very hard to get a booking. Sorry guys but we will not be returning because there is no value for money. We don’t mind paying good money to eat but you have to provide a lot more food for what you’re charging. Not...
Read moreSince opening for over six months, I have been coming to Goon BBQ in Essendon many times with my family and friends. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and offers excellent service. The food is delicious, with a range of BBQs, noodles, rice dishes, and Korean cuisines. They have an upstairs level, too, offering more seating and can be used for functions and special celebrations. Shout out to Yula and Sandy, Goon Staff!! This place has plenty of street parking, is pram-friendly, offers family-friendly meals, and is affordable. They also have Goon BBQ in Collingwood, where I’ve held many of my birthdays throughout the years. Jin and Danny...
