I now have a new favourite Japanese restaurant. This one is stunning; both in decor and food. It's got a very modern vibe to it, and all of us loved it. The food was also beyond delicious. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Where their service let them down was the length in time it took for food to come out. I got my entree first, but had to wait for the longest time for everyone else to get theirs. We came to eat out together, not watch each other eat one by one. Also, there was so much confusion by the waiter as to where each dish should go. At a restaurant of this calibre, they can do what others do and know in advance who orders what, especially after asking if we were sharing. With that said ... this is a fantastic restaurant that I'll definitely go to again. Parking is a pain due to the council cutting out parking spaces, but it's worth it. Pricing is a teeny steep, but again, worth it, because the quality and the taste is there. I definitely recommend this to any Japanese food lover.

I think I am a reasonable critic, and I give equal attention to one star rating as much as 5 stars. When I look back some of the low rating from a year ago looks like nothing has changed and clearly this establishment doesn't really take notice of these customer feedback. Almost identical to another reviewer here, We waited for seems like eternity where it says 'wait to be seated', before a frantic young girl led us to our table. Clearly the places under staffed and everyone is frantic. I even joke to my partner at the start of the night that no one would notice if I take any of the Asahi glasses off the bar, and sure enough by the end of the night the pile just got bigger and none of those glasses was there at the start of the night were moved. The only saving grace was food was delicious and reasonably priced, however lacked vegetarian options for my partner. Will I go again? No

It is a beautiful little Japanese restaurant in this area. Food is standard, sashimi is fresh, however the rice in the sushi is a bit hard and doesn't really feel fresh. It's like reheated or put out there for too long so the edges are a bit dry. The duck was not what I have expected, it was like just boiled and loaded with hoisin (seafood) sauce. Wouldn't recommend it. Neither would recommend the Unagi. The serive was quick, however the waitress seemed to try to challenge the customer, hasty on the order. Before we could get seated, she has already asked us 3 times if we wanted sparkling or still water, blocking my way to the seats. I had to tell her to move away to let me get seated first before I could answer her. It was not a very pleasant beginning from the start.

Our second visit to this local restaurant was to celebrate a birthday with family. Terrible experience from start to finish. Asked for a quiet table which was at the front of the restaurant, almost froze to death each time the front door opened bringing in an icy blast. Had to ask more than once for an ice bucket, simple request. We shared the sushi/sashimi platter and then ordered a couple of entrees and some mains. I specifically asked the waitress to please bring the main dishes one at a time. One of the entrees was yakitori, it was nothing like yakitori at all, awful sauce, pale, wet and tasteless as it had been oven baked. The main courses were delivered all at once, my request totally ignored. The truffle scented wagu beef rice was the only main that was enjoyable. The black miso cod had no trace of miso, the tempura was okay but the prawns weren’t the succulent king prawns we have always had elsewhere. We ordered a main from the specials list which was called Seared salmon on a bed of mashed potatoes, it was inedible, the salmon was in thick pieces and had been lightly blowtorched by the look of it, chewy and tasteless, we sent it back. That wasn’t easy as wait staff continually ignored diners once they had served dishes. In my opinion they couldn’t have cared less. I got up to find a waiter to tell him that we couldn’t eat the salmon, he came and took it away and didn’t even ask if we would like a replacement dish! All around us people were leaving and the dishes and glasses remained stacked on the tables, it was such a mess. I went searching and spoke to a waiter I’d met at our last visit and told him about the shocking night we’d had, he apologised but that was the end of that. We weren’t offered dessert menus even though we sat on after finishing the mains. All in all a very unpleasant experience. The place is noisy, the service almost invisible, the food average at best. An expensive mistake now backed up by comments of friends who also live locally. Brighton has other good japanese restaurants so do yourself a favour and skip going here if you are after an...

Had dinner here last night and unfortunately it was one of the worst experiences we’ve had in a restaurant. From the second you step foot in you are hit by stressed staff members literally running food to tables like headless chickens. We stood for about 10min before anyone even acknowledged us, when they did I think we barely got a hi.

We were already slightly late for this booking and we’re led by a girl to our table which was full of the previous sitting’s dishes (quite a few tables just left with dishes). We then stood next to the table in the middle of the restaurant whilst they frantically cleared the table. We really should’ve left at this stage because it didn’t get better. We got menus and waited 20min to eventually have to walk down the restaurant and grab someone to take our order.

Throughout the night orders of drinks, soy sauce bowls etc were forgotten. We had to consistently remind the staff of things they forgotten.

They forgot part of our food order, even though we were told it was on its way.

The food was okay, lacking of flavour and was definitely not worth what they’re charging. Overall a stressful and frustrating dining experience and couldn’t help but feeling for the staff that clearly are working under a huge amount of stress and...
