Walked in on 23rd January at 5.20pm. Only opened for takeaways. Saw a couple of vegetable cold dishes available at the counter. Asked the waitress being the counter if they had any more cold dishes and the response was ' Whatever we have in the fridge. We have tofu, seaweed and cucumber'. Having a look at the counter dishes, those looked like the dishes that she had just described. So I asked if they had any meat cold dishes. And the response was again, 'Whatever we have in the fridge'. Being a bit confused I asked, 'So what do you have in the fridge?'. And the response was a very frustrated 'Tofu, seaweed and cucumber'. I then explained to her that it was confusing for me because when she said, 'Whatever was in the fridge', it sounded like there might be more choices they had available in the back kitchen. Her frustration then became a rude tone of, 'No, we have tofu, seaweed and cucumber!'. I said 'thank you for your time' and walked away. It was a mildly cold night in Melbourne and it was so satisfying to eat a bowl of noodles at this small joint, away from the busy area of the CBD. There were probably about 10-15 tables in the restaurant so there are plenty of spaces to sit when we got there. The cold dishes were pretty good as well. The noodle master in the kitchen was creating the noodles from the dough and cooked fresh. The flavours and the texture was...
Read moreLanzhou Beef Noodle soup is so good! I love this little place.
The noodles were perfect, not too soggy nor too chewy, just right. The beef was super tasty with lots of flavour. First Sichuan spice dish I’ve really enjoyed. Broth of soup was rich but not overwhelming.
The staff was a bit shy but nice and looked after customers well. Not a lot of people which is good. They have good side dishes too.
The atmosphere is chill and everything has a nice simple modern aesthetic. The place smells good too, like delicious meals.
Recommend going out of your way to try this place if you’re...
