As one of those cafes that don't take bookings for weekends, one could only turn up and test our luck. From then on, it was easy to see the justification for this place's popularity and high rating.
Water and menu were already in position at each seat - efficient and practical. With so many eye-popping dishes sailing out of the kitchen onto tables beside us, we wished we could try everything.
The Eggs Benedict was not your usual fare. With crispy pork belly, maple hollandaise, apple and house made BBQ sauce, this was so delicious I instantly had food envy. Actually the Sauteed Mushrooms were pretty amazing too. On a kale and rosemary waffle, scoop on a generous amount of mushrooms including my favourite the enoki, add garlic herb creme fraiche and truffle oil, rocket, parmesan, sprinkle with pine nuts, cover with manchego cheese and balance the poached egg. My tastebuds were singing from the first to the last mouthful.
We also tried their tumeric and matcha lattes. The turmeric latte is made with rice milk so a little bit more watery but still tasted great and smelled like chai latte. The matcha latte was thick and creamy by contrast.
Magnificent food and attentive service, continuously topping up our water glasses and never hinted for us to leave despite the queue of people waiting for tables. The space has a modern feel, simple and functional. It's a really busy place, but if you only try one cafe in Windsor, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was meeting with a friend at Journeyman on a Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
The cafĆ© was full, but the attentive MaĆ®tre Dā managed to find us a table.
We ordered coffees, which arrived promptly and were very good and strong.
The menu looks really good and we both struggled deciding what to order.
At the end, I opted for the Avocado Hummus Toast and my friend got the Smoked Salmon Bagel.
The food arrived promptly (considering how busy they were) and it was presented beautifully.
The Avocado Hummus Toast comes with Poached Eggs, Candied Bacon, Snow Peas, and Dukkah. It was a delicious breakfast and every ingredient complimented the rest perfectly. The eggs were poached to an absolute perfection too, which was a real treat. The candied bacon is nice and thick, very smokey, and simply delicious. The dukkah basically married everything on the plate together.
My friendās bagel also looked very nice. The hollandaise on top was nice and creamy and, most importantly to me, the salmon was from New Zealand (Iām a kiwi!).
The entire time, one of the waitresses kept on topping up our glasses with water. The service was simply fantastic, which means the world to me on a weekend morning.
Journeyman was an absolute star and I canāt wait to go back and try more of what it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirstly - Iām known for my love of honey so I might be a bit honeycentric!! Had an enjoyable breakfast - love when there is no need to add salt or spice as the seasoning is perfection. The aroma of scented filtered coffee somewhat cashew aromas but a sweetness of a wild bush honey as you enter directed me immediately to order it . The conversation with staff member around world honeys showed his knowledge of how to use all the enrichment flavours throughout his cooking. My boy ordered his chilli scrambled eggs with a croissant - his style - and the heat was just right . Cleanliness is obviously held on high - it didnāt stop the whole time we were there - a good thing ! Seating along the wall was as if we were the only ones present however there were many - the acoustics also a pleasure . If you want a morning of indulgence at the right price - this is for you and maybe - that special someone who doe better with coffee in them š The Gluten free options , vegan ⦠all...
