Lau’s Café 888 — Restaurant in Melbourne

So saturday morning.. hungover as dogs balls, walked straight around the corner and this place was like a angel shinning at me! I ordered a big breakfast and a egg and bacon burrito! The food amazing, i cant fault at all! The chef has a gift from the gods! The service was impeccable! The server, who seemed like he also owned the establishment noticed my apartment key i was staying around the corner, he said there was a menu in our room and he made me a promise, and i belived his word was his bond! The man sa d "we deliver.. if you GUYS NEED ANYTHING!! LET ME KNOW" I walked away from this exp with great trust and i honestly felt proud that i found a great cafe that i could reley on for ANY need that i had! Anywhoo sunday arrives, myself and my friend frantically needed a burrito before our flight, we called and called and called but our calls were not answered i tried once more only to have my call answered! The mood in the room lifted! There was excitment that our burrito needs were to me met! Only to be told swiftly that no deliverys were to be made today.. i felt cheated and robbed of a promise! I'm so glad I discovered this cafe. It's located quite close to Southern Cross, one one of the quieter streets. A family run business from the looks of things and is open quite early.

After trying many different options in the area, I finally found a cafe that prepares a fresh bacon and egg roll instead of simply assembling and reheating pre-made items. Biting into a runny egg and having the yolk coat the roll is one of life's simple pleasures.

I decided to try the coffee today solely after reading other comments and I must say it doesn't disappoint. The next time I will probably try the steak sandwich as that seems to be getting good feedback as well. If I remember correctly, they have a Friday offer on the steak sandwich (I think it's a free drink)

An easy 5/5 for me. It’s so hard to find coffee/breakfast options in Melbourne CBD that aren’t overpriced, overhyped (thanks to social media), and have SIMPLE breakfast/lunch foods available. This place has it all - very well priced, lovely customer service, and delicious simple food. A huge variety of “grab and go” options including yoghurt & muesli, bagels/muffins/focaccias, pastries; a simplified menu for dine in and takeaway, great coffee, and excellent value for money.
