I noticed this restaurant when I passed by it yesterday, and decided to come back specifically for it today for lunch, and that tells a lot already about my feeling And I must say that my expectations were matched, and exceeded even Location is central Plenty of food options (including some bento boxes ready to go), all with clear pictures and descriptions on the menu (that you're indeed handed inside, but you can already see it outside, a good sign) It's basically Japanese food, with a Victorian touch I was happy to be given recommendations, and among them picked the gyu tan don, their signature marinated ox tongue on rice. If you know the ox tongue dish from France, it's much different, here it's very thin slices, very different then, but equally delicious, loved it As a drink I had an iced lychee glass, which came with whole lychees, as often, but also lychee pearls as well, much more rare And as a dessert azuki shiratama, a hot sweet red bean soup with mochi, 3 sorts actually Everything was delicious (and I've lived in Japan for a full year, so that means a lot) Lots of seats inside, and a few outside too There's a TV on (without sound but transcription), and music And the last but not the least, staff was lovely, special mention to Justin Highly...
Read moreStopped by to get a quick lunch after visiting Qvm. We ordered unagi Don, katsu Don, dish of the day in beef and chicken and cha su ramen. Appreciated being asked if we needed a baby seat, even though little one didn't want to sit in there.
Cha su ramen was not bad, but had a lot of bamboo shoot brine taste in the broth, rather than pork flavour.
The dish of the day beef vs chicken had more soy/salt flavouring in 1 bowl than the other dish, so luckily there are condiments on the table.
Katsu Don was probably the best out of the rice bowls we ordered.
We ordered a bit too much food, but was shocked that when asked for one takeaway container is 50c. We had already ordered and paid at the counter before the food arrived, so basically the staff was waiting for us to give the money in order to get us a takeaway bowl.
Probably a good spot for uni students as portion sizes were decent. If hungry, opt for a rice bowl rather than ramen.
P.S. Water jug they served contains a lemon slice, cherry tomato and a bit of parsley......

We ordered the Soft Shell Crab Ramen, which came with juicy marinated eggs, sweet corn, wood ear mushrooms, minced pork, and the star—crispy soft shell crab. The broth was flavorful and comforting with just the right level of spice.
Another highlight was the Shrimp and Egg Rice Bowl—creamy, savory, and full of umami. The shrimp were fresh and bouncy, while the egg was perfectly soft and fluffy. Absolutely comforting!
To top it off, we had a crispy side dish drizzled with thick teriyaki sauce—generous portions and super satisfying.
🧡 Great food 💯 Big servings 👨🍳 Fast service 🌟 Cozy atmosphere
Perfect for ramen lovers looking for rich broth, generous toppings, and friendly vibes. Highly recommended!
