Very poor service. Arrived around 5.30pm and the few staffs were all over. More than 10 times the staff walk past us and did not try to take our order because they were so busy doing other things. In the end after waiting 20 minutes, then a staff managed to come to write down the order. Then had to wait another 15 minutes just for them to bring the utensils etc. We ordered the BBQ set that had no internal organs but when they served, they gave wrong order. They served the set with pork internal organs. So we informed them and we needed to wait again for them to change it. Besides that, they gave use chopsticks but no tongs so we had to ask and wait again. On top of that, there was no water. On top of all this, they forgot to give the fat which you need to use to burn it on the stove first so that the stove does not get burnt. After our stove got so burnt in the first 5 minutes, then only the staff said sorry and gave the fat. To make it worse, the staff said that they can only change the stove 1 time. That means even though the staff forgot to gave the fat and this caused the stove to be burnt even before we eaten anything, they did not care to fix their fault. As such, we had to cook our food on the burnt stove and could only get it change midway through our meal. So the first half of our meal were all food that were mostly black as they were cooked on a burnt stove. Regarding the $35 BBQ set, you can judge yourself whether it is worth it. There were only 2 small prawns and few slices of each meat (few silices of pork neck, few slices of ham, few slices of chicken etc). If you want to add 2 small prawns, you need to add $5. The only thing nice was the sauce. That is all. The food was just very average. Summary is: - Poor service (incredibly difficult to get a staff and staff forgetting many things, making you have to ask again and again) - Wrong set served, no water, no tongs, no cooking fat for BBQ stove causing food to be burnt - Excessive wait time (20 mins just for a staff to come and write the order, 15 more mins just for utensils to come, 10 more mins to fix and serve the correct set) - 4 errors causing unnecessary extra waiting time (staff delivered wrong order, forgot to give tong, forgot to give water, forgot to give fat for stove which caused food to be burnt) - Very average food (2 small prawns in the set and you need to pay $5 if you want to add 2 more small prawns. Each type of meat only has a few slices) - Only thing good is the sauce Recommendation: Many people still rate this place as good because there are almost no other Thai places in Melbourne CBD are serving Thai style BBQ set. But do note this is at a cost of $35 for just 2 prawns, a few slices of eat meat type, some veggies etc. The portion is fine for 1 person but is a far stretch to the advertisement which they advertise as being a set of 2 person. You might also be waiting excessively with no staffs serving you until you wait a really long time, then serving you with a wrong set with water missing, no tong and forgetting to give fat for stove causing your food to be burnt which is what happened here. If you want to eat authentic and good value Thai food, go to Dodee Paidang Thai Street Food on Swanston St or Thaitown in QV. Both are very good with great food and good service.

Nana Thai is hands down my most-visited Thai restaurant in Melbourne. If you’re looking for real Thai flavours just like back home, this is the place. Whether it’s a quick dinner or a full-on Thai feast with friends, Nana Thai always delivers. The Thai BBQ (Moo Kratha) is absolutely amazing — the meat is well-marinated, the broth is rich, and the dipping sauce is just like Thailand! It hits the spot every single time. I usually go for a big plate of grilled pork (Moo Tod) and never skip the papaya salad — they do it so many ways and they’re all worth trying: • Som Tum Pu Pla Ra (fermented fish and crab) • Som Tum Thai (classic sweet and sour papaya salad) • Som Tum Khao Pod (corn salad) • Som Tum Lai Bua (lotus stem salad) • Dry Thai suki with seafood 🦞 the best too👉🏻✅ And yes, they serve Nam Prik Noom (northern green chilli dip) — fresh, spicy, and perfect with steamed veggies! What makes Nana Thai special is not just the food but also the atmosphere. It feels like a real Thai street-side restaurant — warm, casual, and full of energy. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always make me feel welcome. Before leaving, I always order their Banoffee dessert — creamy, sweet, and topped with banana and caramel. And don’t forget to grab a cup of Thai milk tea to complete the meal. It’s bold, sweet, and goes great with everything. If you’re craving authentic Thai food in Melbourne, especially Thai BBQ (Moo Kratha) or Som Tum, this is the ultimate local spot. I can’t recommend Nana Thai enough — it’s my comfort food place, my happy place, and my favourite way to beat homesickness. #nanathaimelbourne #thaifoodmelbourne #mookrathamelbourne #somtummelbourne #genastar

Nana Thai-style Hotpot and BBQ @nana_mookata is definitely one of the hottest Thai restaurants in town! This place is the first restaurant in Melbourne serving authentic Mookata, a Thai style bbq and hotpot. They use a special pan/pot than can grill meats and cook hotpot together at the same time. Genius, right?! What we ordered: 🥘 Mookata set for 2 🥗 Som Tum (Thai papaya salad) 🍜 Pad Thai with prawns 🐟 Grilled Catfish . The BBQ set includes a combination of Pork and Seafood and we have pork belly, calamari, bacon, pork liver, two different marinades of pork neck: the original and the hot and spicy, and some prawns. As for the hotpot, there are enoki mushrooms, glass noodles, cabbage, egg, wombok, and morning glory. The seafood was fresh and paired with the dipping sauce, they are a match made in heaven. . The pork meat was also of good quality - there was only one type of meat that came marinated so you do need seasonings or sauce to add flavors. For $35 the pork portion is fairly generous and good enough for two people. . Overall we had no complaint and enjoy the different selection of the cut of the meat in the Thai BBQ. The highlight was probably the dipping sauce because it paired so perfectly with the meat - we really enjoy the depth of flavours on that sauce. Make sure you check out the latest video on our Youtube channel for the full review. Link in bio ❤️ Pro tip: have an early dinner and line up before the restaurant open at 5:30pm so you don’t need to have a long wait during the busy dinner time! Otherwise you can try after dinner time too as this place opens until 1am!! 😃

First unacceptable staff’s behaviours from multiple visit.

Went there today with my wife and everything went on smoothly, queued for a little bit to get the table.

My wife was so happy we didn’t wait for long tonight.

However, everything collapse when one of the staff trying to get a table next to us.

We were told to sit on table 1 without knowing that we will have to share a table with strangers. (Table1 have 4 seats, two tables connected)

The table was ready with the food on the table.

the table next to me was empty, so i move the hot-pot a little bit over that table to prepare a space for dishes that will be coming.

Everything is ready at this moment and we are about to enjoy the food.

Boom! The “never friendly girl” showed up and push the hot-pot and dishes back to my table without telling us anything except “sorry” . There are no room for the dishes, she then stack it on my plate and left. Yes, the plate for me to use now filled with another dish.

My happy quality moment with my wife is now gone.

I was so angry, but still manage to ask them nicely to cancel our dining without consume any food.

Just a comment for that staff, please do not work with that looking on your face. It is noticeable without trying.

It’s okay if you not gonna ask about your food or our satisfaction from visiting your shop.

It’s also totally okay, if you can’t do things for others to be happier.

But you can’t just ruin their happy moment just because you are overloaded with work or tired from working too much.

If you are tired, take a day break. Don’t force yourself to made that little money with unfriendly behaviours and that expression on your face.

(She should be LGBT, with glasses on. Usually stay behind the counter.)

I think she is one of the senior staff, writing this review should lead to her.

Also, we are not happy about returning the food and left without paying. My wife is saying that she can’t bring herself to be there again as she embarrassed to do that to you guys.

You see? Just as little as asking and acting in a friendly manner can be this serious.

I hope you will be a better person whose can make ppl around you to be happier during our next...

I came for the first time with my girlfriend and all of her friends. They gave my order to the wrong table and left me waiting until my table finished all their food. They did not know what happened but we figured it out ourselves. Very bad and careless service.

*Update After leaving this review. The manager, Min, came to my table and apologised and said the dish will be free. I said that's OK, no problem.

She then came back to the table and said my review is untrue and I must change or remove it. I said don't worry, you apologised and the problem is settled, I will remove it. She then kept arguing and escalating the issue. I told her I waited for my food for an hour, I am just eating now and will change my review later. She said the meal was not given to the wrong table, they actually did not even bring my order to the kitchen, so I can leave a bad review but make it correct. She came to literally correct the review to say that I was 100% forgotten, not my dish went to the wrong table. I already said I would remove it and the issue was solved.

It got so heated and loud that the table of people behind us left the restaurant. Everyone was watching. I told her clearly I will remove it, but she said her English is not good and kept arguing. I had to use google translator to tell her I can't believe my meal was forgotten and I am being harassed about my review. I said repeatedly I will remove it and she kept saying it is untrue and I need to change it.

By the end of it, about 20 of our friends were in the restaurant upstairs, include the manager of a nearby Thai restaurant which our group usually goes to instead. One of our friends even works there and saw it all. They all saw or heard about it and could not believe it. I have never been yelled at at my table after having my meal forgotten.

Why do this? What could possibly come of this? We already fixed the issue and Min thought it would be great to cause a shouting scene in front of everyone and make sure we...
