Dinner @SezarMelbourne for the 4 course meal which offers a number of dishes chosen by the chef from each course so one can enjoy a wide variety.
-Oyster with apple, aniseed and sumac Ooh, so delicious, an interesting mix of ingredients, fruity apple giving a touch of sweetness, citrus from the sumac, very refreshing
Bastourma & egg, garlic jam, toasted brioche Crunchy sweet brioche bun with thin slices of the slightly fatty bastourma (a Middle Eastern highly seasoned air-dried cured beef) and an oozy quail egg, wow. A Middle Eastern take on bacon and egg muffin maybe? I love it.
Hummus, chickpeas, brown butter, toasted lavash Wow, so smooth and flavoursome enjoyed with the delicious lavash. I love that touch of oiliness from the brown butter which adds a lovely flavour to each scoop of the hummus. Liquid gold.
Charred zucchini skewer, pumpkin seed tarator, kishk, kefir ranch sauce The zucchini is unrecognisable, the char has completely changed the flavour, added crispness and with the tarator, kishk and kefir ranch sauce, is refreshing
Slow roasted lamb ribs, charred tomato jam, pomegranate molasses, labne Wow, fatty succulent juicy lamb married with an intense tomato flavour, a tad tart to cut through the fattiness, and a hint of spiciness to add another flavour dimension. What a creation! Dish of the night for me.
Tripple cooked chips, Aleppo pepper, garlic & thyme. Golden brown, hot, crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, these are amazing and so moorish. If you can't finish them you can ask for a takeaway container.
Roast hapuka, falafel crust, tzatziki, summer vegetables, kefir dressing This is interesting use of falafel to create a crunch in place of the skin on the fish, add some herb flavour to the tender succulent fish which is flaky and meaty. The refreshing mint and kefir dressing enhance the fish further along with the earthy peas.
New style baklava, walnut toffee ice cream, salted caramel A crunchy wafer sandwiching the delicious creamy walnut ice cream with a nice salty kick from the toffee, the flavours just work well with each other making each bite extremely satisfying. After all that food I'm glad the dessert serving size wasn't large and that is a perfect way to finish off what has been a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Read moreThis was the worst dining experience I've ever had. My partner and I went there to celebrate something special, hoping to have a great night. It started off okay, but we were extremely disappointed with the service, especially from the manager (Asian, wearing a white shirt, tattoos on his neck, and earrings).
First, when we asked about our food, as we had been waiting for quite a while, the manager suddenly spoke to me and said that our food had been ready earlier, but because our table was full, they had to remake it. I understand this situation, as I have worked in the hospitality industry for a long time. However, the problem was the way he explained it—he was rude and didn't apologize or show any remorse.
When the food arrived, we tried to move past the unpleasant experience and still enjoy our time. But when we were about to order dessert, I had already placed the order with one of the FOH staff, and then the manager abruptly threw the bill onto our table without saying anything or offering any explanation.
I tried to ask politely why the bill was already presented, and the manager told us that we only had a 2-hour reservation. The worst part was that it wasn't even close to the 2-hour mark yet, and they handed us the bill without any explanation. I asked if our reservation was for 2 hours, and one of the staff informed me that we only had 1 hour and 45 minutes. After checking my booking, I saw that it was for 6:15 pm to 8:15 pm, not 6 pm as the manager claimed. It wasn't even 8 pm yet when this happened.
I fully understand that dining time is limited, but I feel the manager could have simply approached me kindly and explained that our time was almost up, rather than canceling our dessert order without saying anything. I would have understood, as I know how busy and hectic Saturday nights can be in restaurants.
I hope that the owner of the Sezar Group takes this feedback seriously and addresses these issues. I have known and respected Sezar for a long time, and it's a well-known restaurant in Melbourne. Please review this behavior, especially in the hospitality industry. In my opinion, the hospitality industry isn't for everyone, so I hope you'll consider providing more thorough training for...

REVIEW: My favourite from the entrees was the Charred Broccoli skewers. You can't go wrong with crunchy, smoky broccoli. It's a classic combination when it's with a creamier dressing. In this case, it's the kefit ranch sauce. Delicious and a good amount. Found the Snapper Tartare decent. The rice crisps stuck around my mouth, but none of the other diners had the issue 🤔 . The snapper was refreshing and delicious, though. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the Spanner Crab Manti. The yoghurt made it creamy for my taste, along with being encased in a pastry, which reminded me of a ravioli. I could barely taste the sweetness of the Spanner Crab, which is a negative for me. My friend loves ravioli and the creamy taste, though! if these elements are up your alley, consider ordering it at Sezar.
The lamb had me laughing. The heavy hand on the sauce really reminded me of a HSP. We unintentionally made it a gourmet HSP, with the addition of the best triple cooked chips (I ate so much that I almost lapsed into a food coma), and a delicious refreshing salad to break it up. After all our filling entrees, the quantity of lamb could've fed three. We weren't able to finish it between two 😭. Ending off with a sweet dessert in ice cream was easy. I was extremely full after all this.
The service was really friendly! They made accommodations to our order to cater for 3, when the listed amount was 2. It saved us from ordering two serves, which I really appreciated. The manager and staff were friendly overall. I like the Armenian and Middle Eastern influences and the contribution to the Melbourne...
