Not sure why people are giving this outfit a 5 star we definitely would not, the experience me and my wife who is irish by the way were really looking forward to coming here as we had just moved down from Qld after almost 18 years in the Sunny State.
When we finally found this place we were so excited to walk in and see other maori who are normally friendly well in qld they are but to our dissatisfaction we were instead met with a cold and very ignorant attitude as we were the only customers in the store at that time as we stood at the counter waiting to order the staff member who was literally a arm length away completely ignored us as she just didn't even bother acknowledging our existence and when she finally thought i guess i better serve them now.
It wasn't like what would you like it was a really unsettling experience to be served with such ignorance and animosity
If we hadn't driven for an hour and half just to get there we would have walked out.
The experience I've had with maori since we moved here is quite different to what I'm used too back home and in Qld some maori's here are very up themselves maybe because they are doing well over here so the become so snooty.
All in all i was so disappointed for my wife who loves our kai and our culture she has never been around maori who are up themselves so it has been an experience for her also and the prices were a rip off $20 for a punnet...

Their breads are so delicious and so fluffy! I honestly, cannot recommend NZ Street Food in Dandenong Marketplace more. The owner and all the staff are the loveliest people I have ever met. I started coming more recently over the weekend (it was so hard for me to find Hāngi around south-east Melbourne) and usually on Tuesday they will sell out over the weekend unless pre-ordered in advance. I pre-ordered 2 packs of Hāngi today and I left my house 50 min prior to closing time and (I live 25 min away) so I thought I’d have more than enough time to pick it up and the lady (I think it was the owner) I didn’t get her name unfortunately was super understanding and so kind about it!!! I was 10 min late (they open 9:00am until 3:30pm), and she was absolutely the sweetest ever. I would definitely give this place more than 5 stars if I could, not only are everyone amazing there and so friendly, but the food is absolutely super delicious! Absolutely love all food they have on the menu. Thank you again, and definitely recommending to anyone that’s looking for authentic NZ Food in Melbourne around...
Read moreNestled in the bustling Dandenong Market is a little New Zealand street food stand serving up hot, made-to-order bites. For just $10, I got a piping hot bacon and egg sandwich layered with a fried egg, bacon, and mayo between two nicely toasted and fried buns. The sandwich was very generously sized - absolutely worth the price and sure to satisfy any hunger.
The food is all freshly prepared after you order, so you know you're getting something hot and delicious. The staff working the stand were extremely friendly and polite too. They had my sandwich ready in just a few minutes despite the busy market crowds.
If you're looking for a hearty, no-fuss meal on the go while exploring the sprawling Dandenong Market, I highly recommend stopping by this Kiwi street food spot. Their sandwiches and other burgers hit the spot when you need some quick tasty fuel to keep you going. Well worth the trip for good value and a very...
