Highly disappointed with the service and conduct of staff at El Jannah Dandenong store during my recent visit. Never ever go to this store at all.

We purchased two $5 starter pack offers through the app at the counter. It took more than 15 minutes for our order to arrive. When the waiter finally delivered it, he mistakenly gave it to the wrong table and walked away without realizing his error. About five minutes later, he brought another order to the same table, and only then did the other customers inform him of his mistake.

Shockingly, instead of preparing a fresh meal, the waiter retrieved the same food from that table and handed it to us — food that was cold and partially eaten. One of the customers from that table even approached us to swap back the pickles, admitting that he had already eaten some, which we appreciated for his honesty but found unacceptable from the staff’s side.

Despite this, we remained calm and started eating what we had been served, still waiting for the rest of our order. After another 15 minutes, the waiter returned — without the remaining items — and asked, “Did you pay for this before eating it?” I was taken aback by such an inappropriate question, especially after already presenting the receipt. He took the receipts back to the counter and later brought the rest of our food directly from the kitchen. The difference in freshness between the first and second portions was very noticeable.

When I politely asked if he could replace the pickles with fries or something else as a small gesture of goodwill for the earlier mistake, he refused. I then went to the counter and asked to speak with the store manager to make a written complaint. The manager simply apologized for the waiter’s behavior but said nothing more could be done since we only paid $5 per pack.

I explained that the issue was about hygiene, service, and behavior — not the price. Instead of assisting further, the manager ignored me, took another customer’s order mid-conversation, and then told me to “just leave.”

This entire experience was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unhygienic. Both the waiter and the manager displayed poor customer service and complete disregard for basic courtesy and food safety.

3/11/2025: I attempted to submit a written complaint through your website’s contact page, but it appears the complaint was directed to the Dandenong store itself. Based on the response I received (see attached screenshot), it seems the same staff member involved in the incident replied to my complaint — which is completely unacceptable and a clear conflict of interest.

Your current complaint process needs to be reviewed, as allowing individuals to respond to complaints made against themselves undermines transparency and fairness.

The food is nice.. But the service is terrible.. Im a regular customer there, and every second or third time, i face issues and get disappointed..

I hope the boss or managers read that and work on some improvements..

Always their is a queue Food is always waiting on the bench , served from the kitchen , but no one cares to pack it up hot and give it away asap. So always resulting in cold food Most of the time, its wrong orders Witnessed lots of Uber drivers handed the wrong orders , and they come back from the car to change or swap Several times, the chicken rap bread is either burnt or it's ripped , which makes the chicken fall off while u eating I believe english should be the main language for service , isn't it? Last visit me and a friend, waited 20 minutes for our 2 sandwich, dine in . I went to the counter, they forgot about it , and was sitting as usual on the kitchen bench without being served , they passed it to us finally.. It was cold as usual.. We still ate it and didn't make any complaints.. and went for the counter and asked for another one , so I can have it hot .. and paid for it .. It took them more than 15 minutes and wasn't ready .. I got pissed .. I asked for a refund and left ..

I never ever left a bad review in my life to any business even if I don't like their food or service, I just don't come back again ..

But for this store , we really like the food , but just need better care and service, and we hope this message helps out to point on a few things to be...

Most people have their "Go To" local Charcoal Chicken shop, me included. I have mine, which is only a 3 minute walk from home, they're delicious but there are always dried burnt and inedible bits like the wings , but acceptable. However, 2 weeks ago, I visited El Jannah Chicken in Dandenong, about a 30 minute drive away, and I have to say, that their Charcoal Chicken was absolutely delicious! No burnt or inedible bits but a beautifully charred and succulent chook and bloody delicious! Would I drive 30 minutes once a week to get their Charcoal Chicken? Maybe not, maybe once a month. That being said, their Fried Chicken Wings were the surprising star of the order! Crispy and crunchy batter that was surprisingly light but then the meat was incredibly moist and flavoursome and "fall apart" . Now, would I drive 30 minutes once a week? Turns out the answer is No, I'd go 3 times! Yes, I went 3 times to get my fill of their Fried Chicken and therefore, I also got their Charcoal Chicken 3 times in the week! I also forgot to mention, their gravy is fantastic as is the very garlicky Garlic dip. Ahh Dip, Their Eggplant dip, Babaganoush or something like that, is smokey and delicious and had me dipping into it with hot chips then corn chips whilst watching the footy, finished the large tub in a quarter of Footy! Dined in once and came to pick up twice. From ordering to receiving the chicken took maybe 2 minutes....probably less! Super fast service, they've got the...

Exceptional Charcoal Chicken Experience at El Jannah Dandenong Review: After hearing so much buzz about El Jannah Charcoal Chicken, I finally decided to give it a try, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! From the first bite of their famous chicken, I was impressed. The chicken was cooked to perfection, surpassing its competitors in the charcoal chicken game. The serving size was generous, and the value for money was excellent, priced at just under $18 for a half chicken, chips, garlic dip, and a drink. It's probably the best charcoal chicken I've had in Victoria, and I've tried quite a few! It's important to remember that El Jannah is a charcoal chicken shop, not a fine dining restaurant. Despite this, the quality of the food is exceptional, and it's evident that they take pride in what they do. If you're in Dandenong and craving some delicious charcoal chicken, El Jannah is definitely the place to go. recommended!
