I've always liked this place and their friendly service however yesterday I was quite put off when I was unexpectedly charged a $5.40 extra fee for it being a public holiday.

Firstly it's illegal to slap on an extra charge without warning the customer. There was no sign (they said they lost it) and hardly any acknowledgement when I pointed out what they did was wrong. I sent a private message on their social media and was also not responded to other then the automated message

Had I known about the extra cost I would have had the kids choose the smaller size with no extras.

Second it's not the on the customer to pay for the extra costs of keeping your establishment open on new years. Legally you have to pay your workers more and if you don't want to then don't open on new years day.
