Assolutamente magnifico! We stumbled upon this hidden Italian gem in the heart of Prahran for a casual Saturday breakfast - and what a delightful surprise it was! From the moment we walked in, we were transported straight back to Italy. The authenticity, the passion in every dish, and the warm hospitality made it an unforgettable experience.
The food was simply outstanding - crafted with care, flavour, and that unmistakable Italian soul. I had the burrata bruschetta paired with a perfectly made cappuccio (Italians really do know how to do it right, don’t they?), and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice that was the perfect morning pick-me-up.
Everything we tried was delicious - the sourdough sandwiches filled with San Daniele prosciutto, the ham and cheese croissants, the freshly made pastas, and vibrant salads. Each bite told a story of tradition and love for good food.
A heartfelt grazie to the owners- the wonderful italian brothers Salvatore and Daniele who are really passionate about food an desire to deliver exceptional food and service. Thank you for the warm welcome and genuine kindness. Their smiles and energy added that extra sparkle to our morning.
We’ll definitely be back to savour more of this cibo delizioso. If you’re in Melbourne and craving a true taste of Italy, do yourself a favour - pop by and indulge in this authentic Italian treasure in Prahran. Highly...
Read moreLove this little place and have been here a few times, around lunch time on a Saturday, after a shop through the market which is right next door. The menu is simple. Which I prefer. I’d rather a restaurant focus on a few dishes very well, than have many options that aren’t implemented well. We start with the Caprese salad, fresh gorgeous crispy soft bread and olive oil. Then move to the pasta main dishes. I have tried most of them and my absolute favourite is the Ragu Lasagne. Typically, I don’t order lasagne when going out as often I find it is a hit or miss dish; however at Oltre it is served super hot out the oven, beautifully sauced and just enough cheese to make you feel you are eating your Nonna’s food. It hits the happy spot hard. While I don’t drink, often see patrons enjoying a glass of red or white with their meals. We finish off with what I believe is Melbourne’s best Tiramisu. This dream dessert is only made and served on the weekends. It is worth visiting Oltre just for the Tiramisu! Their Affogato is served with the most delicious coffee and served with a tasty Vanilla gelato, also cannot recommend highly enough. The service is great and I always feel like I’m visiting Italy when I’m dining here. Recommend that if you want to visit on a Saturday, make a...
Read moreOur recent visit to Oltre restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. The ambiance of the restaurant set the stage for a memorable evening, complemented by an exceptional culinary experience. We ordered the Carbonara and Lasagna, both of which were prepared to perfection. The flavors were rich, and the portions were generous, showcasing the chef’s dedication to quality and taste.
A humorous mix-up occurred when we tried to order an Affogato, and it was misheard as “avocado.” Initially, we were informed, with apologies, that they did not have it. However, the mix-up was quickly resolved when another waiter stepped in to confirm our order, ensuring we received exactly what we wanted. This incident highlighted the attentive and responsive service at Oltre, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.
The staff’s commitment to providing excellent service and ensuring customer satisfaction was evident throughout our visit. It’s this level of care and attention to detail that sets Oltre apart.
I wholeheartedly recommend Oltre to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience with great food and service. Whether it’s for the delicious meals or the warm and welcoming atmosphere, you’re sure to have a...
