✔️ Sourdough ➖ Oysters ➖ Steak tartare ⭐️ Chicken wings ✔️ Whiting ⭐️ Fondue
Transit is a rooftop bar way up on Level 2 of @transport_hotel located at @fed.square in Melbourne’s CBD. It easily boasts one of the best, uninterrupted, panoramic views of the city and across the Yarra. Melbourne’s best jazz, blues, funk, reggae and rhythm & blues musicians take to their stage throughout the week. 🎷
They have recently introduced “Gut Bucket Blues & Boogie” Jazz nights every Thursday from 6pm til late. To make the night even sweeter, they have $15 signature cocktails and fondue all day.🍸
The menu is designed as snacks to pair with your drinks. If you’re looking for somewhere for dinner they have @taxikitchenmelbourne with a Modern Australian and Asian influence or @transport_hotel Public Bar downstairs for a pub style feed.
Our favourite pick from the menu was the Fondue special with Potato Rosti, we got the melted Raclette and Chardonnay but there was also Caviar, Chives and Crème Fraiche and a sweet option of Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate and Raspberry with Churros. A close runner up was definitely the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Wings, they were perfectly seasoned and crispy. 👌🏽
The @bakerbleu Country Sourdough was paired with some cultured chilli butter and the Crumbed Whiting was nice too. The Steak Tartare was creatively displayed, with tiny little egg yolks on top 🥹, but felt the steak was a little lost with all the sauce throughout. The oysters came warm.
A vibey spot to come for drinks with some very decent snack options to match and free entertainment. Our favourite cocktails were the Espresso Martini and the El Capo Del Toro. Check their socials or website for more on what’s...
Read moreTo all my fellow backpackers:
Okay.... So I just ordered two shots of $17 tequila at Transit bar. I LOVE tequila. I'm from the US. I visit Mexico often. I'm a fan... Anyways.
When I asked for lime I was told no. The bartender then proceeded to move the limes away like I would actually reach over and take one. Then told me, that's not how "we do tequila". ( I'm sorry but this is Australia, you guys don't really ever do tequila). Then when I said I had been working in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and had never refused something so petty as a lime to a guest in any establishment; he said well that's my rules and I don't think tequila should be served with a lime.
I don't care what you want to serve with lime. It's good alone, it's good with lime, lemon, orange. That's not the point.
CONNOR at Transit bar refused service to a sober, paying guest and I'm pissed off about it.
I'm asking all you backpackers to help with me leaving a review. Only because... My last statement to him being, "I can't believe you reused service to a guest" was met with from him, "you're not from here, I don't really...
Read moreMy review is for new year eve rooftop bar, in specific review the vip section! Consider this is my favourite bar and I paid hell of money for vip section, to make a memorable new year for my love! While the food, location and drink, even service is all brilliant! The arrangement is awful! It’s disappointing, that all the crowed which more than capacity of balcony, are coming almost touching you and pushing you , right behind you to be closer to edge of balcony while they haven’t paid for VIP! I could smell their breath to my face! A nut guy started forcing my wife to move her seat so he can squeeze himself inside, and when we said please back off, we are not comfortable, they started pushing and my wife started panicking and simply ruined our best moment! If we paid for VIP that means we are paying to be comfortable in that place and enjoy our moment with enough privacy! Otherwise we could be in the street with same situation for free!!! Basically no barrier between people and vip section! Horrible experience, my wife said I just want to be home and be relax next year! Thank you Transit with your awful...
